Player Valuation: £35m
is it just me or is the new 5 tier ticket grading system a very cynical way of getting more money out of fans

What, Bolton as a 'premium fixture'? I'd like to hear Elstone explain that one away when he gets back off his latest 3 month mountain bike holiday.

I thought it was a good idea initially but I am unsure now. The gradings seem to be tiered in favour of the more expensive fixtures. This should have been an opportunity to give fans who can't afford to get to the game more of a chance.
Is that you quoted in the Echo for Evertonians 4 Change saying it's a great idea?

Is it E4C policy to back up price increases?

Policy? Who do you think I am David Cameron.

If you read the initiative details the prices will increase for some games, stay the same for the majority and reduce for others. As a scheme it seems, on the face of it to be a good idea. Of course, it might need altering in terms of the categorisations but it's a new scheme and even we can see that their will be initial teething problems that need tweaking. We aren't backing a price increase, we are backing a restructuring of prices which makes some games more accessible.

You really have to laugh, fans on melt downs for weeks because dont have any money, then get all humpy over price increases. Buissness trying to improve profits through customers shocker. Bad double standards here.

Money comes from the pockets of others doesnt it!

Bolton shouldn't be where it is, and Wigan & Fulham should be category E aswell, simply because they bring no one in terms of away fans, so should be a chance to bump our crowd.

This is a point I thought you'd understand: matchday revenue and tv cash is the only armoury they have because they're ****ing useless at generating cash any other way. Let's be clear: Elstone et al have failed to shift as many STs this season and are looking to make the shortfall up by 'an innovotaive pricing structure' that sees an increase in tickets for half the games bar Stoke/Blackburn. It's a sleight of hand. You can be sure of one thing: when the Echo tries to sell it as a bargain it's not - I'm just amazed they hoodwinked some supporters into backing it as a brave new world.

This is not much of a revenue generator imo. Rough calculations based on 10k fans paying the extra for the premium games is circa 280k before tax and costs for the season. Its around the cost of 500 or so ST's again a rough estimate. If season tickets sales end up being down 10 to 20% on last season this still won't cover the gap in our finances too well.

Bolton game sceduled for 2/1/12 btw is the closest we get to a home New Year game on the current fixture schedule & normally close to a sell-out in recent seasons.

I can see why the Bolton game is rated as it is now, fair enough.

Understand now, fair enough Bolton being were it is

TBH i dont doubt those points, for me they have been to kind to the fans over the years our prices for our position in the table are very competitive - no doubt the stadium and facilites are a factor. But to be honest im dissapointed this comes as trying to make a short fall, rather then trying to incvrease revenue. I would be closer to your view point on that one but we will wait for the books and overall matchday revenue.

I think you are missing the point here - firstly it's £5 extra for the Liverpool game and £4 for City and United. Fair enough? Then £3 for Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea - again fair enough? So that's £22 more. The Bolton game is high demand cos it's January 2nd. This is a total of £25 above the basic ticket price.

On the other hand a) You get £24 off (Park End) tickets for the two reduced games and b.) Season ticket holders get 2 £15 vouchers to hand to mates .. so, that's a net total of ONE POUND against the total match by match ticket price - before using the season ticket discount vouchers. In the normal run of things it's obvious to charge more for the higher demand games - just like you'd expect to pay more for a holiday in July!

A season ticket for around £450 - that's less than £24 a game - is pretty competitive really. The other lot charge nearly £800.
