The points system is nowhere near 6 years old. It was brought in the last time rep was removed because it wasn't working.

No mate, it went away for a while but it was reinstated with the historical points total. So it has been around for the vast majority of this site. It's also served it well.

The one point rep is my idea lid. I'm not having Kia Ora head stealing that.

The £20 upgrade thing helps pay for the server and running costs of the forum and whether we like it or not the ability to see who's left the comments does make people upgrade. I agree that no poster should have the power to wipe out another just because they've posted longer and have more points or whatever.

The old rep system just needs to be tweaked. The problem isn't with the system it's with some posters abusing it, like the snide comments with pos rep.

Looking at the poll it seems that most want the old system back. So hopefully that will happen.

It does mate. This is the best and fairest way. But Il explain why it won't happen:

People pay the £20 fee. With it and the rep system they get a bit of power. This is why some of them buy it. Without the power and a level playing field they won't purchase it.

Thus effecting the forums revenue. Good on the owner for making it this way. He's covering cost with it. But it also puts posters in a pyramid system.

That's why the thumbs won't stay. I guarantee it. If its stays watch the forum support members drop!

The clique thing is tiring. Like anywhere there'll be certain members who get to know each other electronically (baulks) but the place from day one has always been friendly and bullying has not been tolerating. If anyone feels like they are being picked up unfairly then they could raise it by PM with a mod and they're all very decent lids, they'd sort it.

That's why the place has done so well in six years.
