Threat of villa

I know a few Villa fans and some were never entirely convinced by him, so I suspect it didn't take much to turn against him.

Will be interesting to see who they recruit. Big Sam would make me laugh.

My mate who’s a villa fan seems to think they’ve been liaising with the Denmark manager for a while, what had me surprised, was the rumours of Hassenhuttl, not exactly proved to be a great manager in the Premier League so far.

If Gerrard wants the rs job he needs to be seen to improve a premier league side. This could be he best shots to pick an under performing side up and do this.
Dunno, I think he's hoping to jump straight in there without risking his reputation in England.

But if he did come in and improve a team, then he'd be a shoe-in when Klopp's head implodes. I think a cash rich Newcastle might be the loaded dice to do that if the opportunity arises.

Can see him ending up at Leicester next season if Rodgers won't improve.

Doubt he'll leave Rangers now when 2 in a row is very achievable.

Gerrard should walk to Villa Park for that job - he's never getting a better Premier League club to manage. Of course, he'll almost certainly crash and burn if he gets it. He has everything to prove. Winning in Scotland is no recommendation - but it was a smart career move to go to Rangers when Celtic were in a period of decline. Villa need to be careful. It's one thing being ambitious, but they could get themselves relegated if they make the wrong move now. Martinez would be head and shoulders a better option that Slippy, but that could be a rollercoaster too. Hjulmand would be a risky appointment.

rumors are he turned down that job, kind of surprising

Is it?

The Newcastle appointment had to be someone like Howe to be honest. Howe is a what i'd call an "unglamourous" appointment.

He's low key, not got much of a High Level playing calibre for the spotlight, hasn't managed a huge side, and won't try signing any superstars. It's perfect for what Newcastle right now.

Or Gerrard, the superstar, who will attract the media circus, the pressure of "can he succeed, and replace Klopp", getting bad players to shine, finding form in a new league to manage in.

Gerrard has a lot more to lose by taking the Newcastle job, than he does for the Villa job, who are probably 3 steps ahead of Newcastle, in that you're probably 3-4 players off being a side who can consistently challenge for Europe, still has a significant budget and doesn't have issues of pressure of being newly crowned richest club in the land.

I think almost every Villa fan felt sad and regret when the news broke. It's obviously a results business, but firing a manager whom is an avid fan just makes it very emotional.

He released quite a statement earlier, which was very well written and definitely strung some of me earlier.
I believe your chairman has sounded out David Unsworth for the job but he has had to decline it as he wouldn't be able to to get home in time for his dinner.

I'd loov it if Gerrard went to Villa, thereby hastening the downfall of two least favourite clubs - Rangers and Villa. The shame is that he'd be unlikely to get the LFC job but I don't honestly think they'd consider him anyway. He's no Klopp!

on no I mean i completely agree on that. I think whoever goes to Newcastle is going to fail.. think the Purslow connection helped us land him...... that being said, I am very far from being sold on him
