Harsh move. I feel he deserved a season avoiding relegation and then too retire next season. Much like moyes had a couple of bf seasons, the general trajectory was upwards. Big turning point for the club.

1/4 of the season gone and 3 points off the drop. There's not many fans who'd want that to be fair. Hell we're 11th and if Benitez was binned off now, there wouldn't be too many tears shed from a lot of us.

I know a few Villa fans and some were never entirely convinced by him, so I suspect it didn't take much to turn against him.

You say this but look what a lot of Everton fans expect, all fan bases have delusional expectations based on wishes.

I'm not sure either would go. As ever though, it depends on money. Not just in terms of pay, but what is available to spend on players.
