Thoughts on Dempsey?

With him getting snubbed this past weekend, would it be worth going for him? I'd say yes, as he could definitely give us something different (especially in terms of pace) on the right. Plus maybe it could convince to Donovan coming back on a loan this winter, rather than going to a club that can afford him? And it's not just because I'm American. :lol:

He likes him . That is FACT , but Timmy is Timmy . Whilst Cahill plays for us , Dempsey is a no-go , but he defo fancies him .
 
While I love Clint, and wish he could start at Fulham (he works super duper hard), he tends to be on the taller, slower side, and thus is used more as a striker (from what little I've seen of him at Fulham, and the tons I've seen of him on the USMNT). He creates some good passes, but in my opinion tends to lack precision (but makes up for that with some creative plays and brute force like his wondergoal last year). He lacks pace.

I agree with LCAB - he resembles Tim more than a right winger, and as such, I don't think he's needed as much on the team, unless there is a need for depth. Which means he's yet again on the bench - something he's already got.

But an interesting thought!

We need a RW but his game is too much like Timmy's. Doubt Fulham sells him, most of the season he was a 60th min sub for them under Roy.
 

The Yanks will be on soon, posting youtube videos of him scoring goals, they need to realise hes proper, proper crap. And theres a reason he plays for Fulham, GASH.
 

I'm not sure he'd be a good fit here. He's playing at the right club for him and for Fulham, Sparky needs to get his head out of his you know what.
 
I think I recall a thread about this last month where a few people called him gash. I responded with a question. The question was, "Name another English player who's scored like he did against Juventus in their Europa Cup match."

The response I got was chirping crickets.

Dempsey's a talent, no doubt about it. But I'd agree that we really don't need him here as we have his position filled quite well and have other pressing needs (i.e. Landon Donovan) but if we needed his role filled, then yeah, I'd have no problem with Dempsey here.

And by the way, it's not because he's American. There are quite a few American players that I'd want Everton to swerve...
