This is becoming a bit concerning

Think Moyes is already onto it & seems to be looking at Forren & Gordan, making too many changes will cause us to concede more goals as the defence gets use to each other.

Put Jags in goal, bring in Duffy, go 3 at the back, having a stand-in Goalie will concentrate their minds like nothing else....something needs to.

You want to sell Heitinga and buy forren.
I tend to agree with this but again this kid has proved nothing yet and certainly wouldn't take distins place this season anyway. Could be a good replacement but you don't know really if he's good or not.

I’d expect Forren to come in and play straight away, if we were to sign him.

He would certainly be in the same level of contention for a starting place that our 3 centre backs are at the moment, and both Distin and Heitinga are currently out of favour.

I'd be quite happy to see Howard sold. He seems to be a great guy and has given us some outstanding performances
Those are some pretty compelling reasons to sell him.

Butland NEEDS to be signed.
Agreed. If we don't act quickly we won't be able to strike 12 years before he hits a goalie's prime.

As a matter of fact, I'd actually be looking to integrate Duffy into the 1st eleven ASAP and sell Jagielka while he still has resale value.
He's 30. He's worth more to us than we'd get for him. (see: Pienaar, Steven).

We simply cannot afford to keep players till their close to retirement as their values plummet (See Cahill / Arteta)
Didn't we get 10m for Arteta? Cahill was never going to bring in a lot of money even two years ago -- we kept him a year or two too long but it didn't cost us that much money. This idea that you sell players when they are in their prime is wrong. The best time for a club like ours to sell players is when they are more potential (Rodwell) than realized ability. In other words when their market value exceeds their real team value. Buy low; sell high.

By your logic we'd buy Butland and Forren and then have to sell them when they are 26-28 to "maximize value." How do we ever progress if we're constantly selling players in their prime? It doesn't make any sense. Baines wasn't as good as he is now when he was 22. We are a much better team because he is hitting his prime. How do we ever progress if we're constantly selling players in their prime? It doesn't make any sense.

....with Distin this can't be helped but with Jagielka we could possibly bring in 10mil for him and rebuild a bit more wisely with youth...
We were in fourth last week -- now we are rebuilding with youth?

For those of you seeing a kneejerk -- Ive said this since last Jan and beyond.
Well at least you're consistently wrong.

EDIT -- I'm expecting some "Duffy/Butland/Forren are all unproven" etc etc....but in fact could they be any worse than the 'Old Guard?'
Yes. We are in fifth place so I'd say there is quite a lot of room to be worse. We could lose these games instead of drawing them. That would be worse. Then the games we won could have been draws or loses. Also worse.

That said I wouldn't say no to giving Duffy some games (which is a different scenario since he is already an Everton player) however I'm not sure Arsenal is the right game. It's also dangerous to start two younger players like Coleman and Duffy together.

selling our best centre back to make room for an unproven youngster makes perfect sense to me.

I don’t know about that, but getting rid of an out-of-form ageing player whose best days are definitely behind him, and replacing him with a better, younger player whose best days are still ahead of him, makes perfect sense to me.
