Reidy's Bottle Of Grecian
The Unobstructed View
skynews said:There has been a slight increase in volcanic activity over the last 18 hours and with strong to gale force winds across southeastern Iceland, and our northwesterly air flow, a further ash plume, between 19,500 feet and 23,000 feet, is sinking southwards across Britain, currently causing airport closures in northwestern parts.
This could cause problems for Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Luton and even as far south as Heathrow within the next 24 to 36 hours.
Significantly, we will see a wind change on Tuesday evening into Wednesday with a more mobile westerly, southwesterly wind flow, pushing the ash plume away from Britain in a northeasterly direction into the northern Atlantic towards Greenland.
The Met Office stress this is a very fluid situation and could change hourly, but forecast from Wednesday this week air traffic across Britain will return to normal.
This is a situation we may see repeated many times over the coming months as this volcano continues to erupt.
For the latest no fly zone - check out these ash cloud concentration level charts on the Met Office site, which illustrate very clearly the no fly zone in black.
