His holding up linking play up was much improved today - that header needed to guide it tried to head the ball to hard - cleared the bar by too much - trying to hard - looks like he is getting a bit more confidence but needs a goal ....

I personally dont see anything special about the kid that you couldn't find elsewhere. You usually tell if a player has"something" about them or an attribute.

Ellis Simms did more.

Depends what "better" metrics are being used.

He's just turned 23 and had his 4th start.

I posted when we signed him that I thought he and some of the other signings wouldnt be properly judged until December onwards.

Lets see how he does.

We came 4th that season Marcus Bent ran his legs off with little support upfront !

Yeah. Did ok. Doesn't look prolific though.

Best game from him so far by a long way! He needs some bulk and still not up to speed, but desire was definitely there today and that made all the difference

No shot on target, a header over the bar, a goal disallowed for offside, Dewsbury Hall a goal disallowed for Barry being offside even though he wasn't involved at all, link up play decent and overall imo done well and most importantly the team looked cohesive with him up top.
I would be starting him again next game

Played better today and we won so hopefully he doesn't feel too bad about not breaking his duck. Looks like he's got the weight of the world on his shoulders at times, would love him to get a goal and see him smiling on the pitch.

Yes it was much better than he's shown up until now but honestly that isn't say much.

He played ok. We all want him to do well , we are desperate for a striker , but please don't let that blind you to his actual contribution.

I think we want Barry to basically be what he already is but with more goals

He works hard, holds it up decently and gets in good positions

He just can’t get it in the net
