2025/26 Thierno Barry

Barry did well at hold up play in the Brighton game and was involved in both goals due to it. Making themselves an option is partly on them but partly due to tactical employment. I don't think our tactics get the best out of them unless Alcaraz is playing in regards to Beto. Not having competent attacking fullbacks doesn't help them either.

Brighton? That was back in August ffs - he's played in 9 other games since then and shown nothing useful. Every touch of his is heavy and out of control.

Brighton remains his most minutes in the league in a game thus far. It's the only game in the league aside from yesterday which he started. 5 of those other games he's got 15-25 minutes.

Beto had his purple patch after naff performances when he actually started playing regularly. If we keep giving Barry bit part performances then I don't really expect him to grow or improve.

I think we need another striker regardless of who gets the minutes until Jan, but I think Barry *should* have more of a future at Everton than Beto.

Really surprised at some of the comments about his display last night from Everton fans. Seems very split that he played well or he never.
Afraid im in the he never. The miss is the miss. Can swerve that(just)
Unless there is a dramatic style of play change he looks awkward and slow.
Honestly think we'd been better getting jamie vardy for a year at this rate. His movement and pace looks better than barry.
Clinging on to pure hope now something clicks. But we may have done our dough here.

Last night, it seemed the team didn't know how to play with him. Often he'd drop back a bit, then get a pass from someone moving forward, but instead of playing it forward again, which could then lead to link up play, he'd play it back. Nidaye is a greedy sod at times so he's never going to play him in, but then again Barry never seemed to making an runs behind (which Beto attempts to do)

I certainly wouldn’t say he was brilliant or anything but I thought he did ok last night, probably the best either of them have done when starting a game all season. It’s low bar obviously, but it’s something. I thought the sub was harsh and unnecessary, it didn’t do anything at all to change the game and no doubt knocked his already fragile confidence.

I think low bar is exactly right. We're clinging onto anything.
I watched the 19yr old bournemouth signed from lorient at City on sunday. His movement and ability looks miles better than barry and beto.

The lad is absolutely down in the gutter.

The manager needs to build his confidence up. He might be crap, but youve got to give him confidence, players who are nervous, low confidence will never perform.

Jelevic - prime example. Bagged tonnes of goals when he came, then couldnt hit a barn door.

He badly needed that to go in yesterday, i thought before that he was "alright".

Thought he did ok overall some decent hold up play, movement and passing.

For the miss, that slight touch from KDH affected the flight of the ball, but he still should have scored.

Before that he looked more urgent and working hard, but looked like that affected him.
