2025/26 Thierno Barry

Why? What is it that makes you directly compare him to Moise Kean?
I wonder what it is
Bit of a harsh postulation, which I’ve seen aimed people twice in the last couple of days.

Assume he just meant we have taken a talented young striker that has scored elsewhere and failed to integrate him correctly. Or we have bought a striker with potential when we haven’t the other options in the squad to score us goals whilst he settles. Both true.

It's not his body language so much as his lack of effort closing down defenders. He's only played for half games or less,it's not as if he needs to conserve energy. All strikers go through bad patches and his being new to the division you'd expect that, but there's no excuse for not leaving it all on the pitch. He's a big unit so should start play like one.

I know you'll agree there's various reasons why a striker doesn't do the exact work you are expecting to see. Personally think it's a bit reductive to say he should leave it all on the pitch and that he's not meeting your standard. I thought he tried fine, but just wasn't very good but also we have often not been very good as a team this season.

I just haven't seen much to comment on apart from a new player not playing very well. I've no interest in helping ramp up a narrative about a young player when so often it's just the way it is in their opening months for lots of different reasons.

Saying he had a bad game, or it's not clicking for him yet or whatever. Yeah. Going off on one about him here or at the game or on twitter after very few minutes in the shirt....nah. it's one of the dumbest things about football for me.

Over the decades Everton supporters have taken duff players to their hearts purely based on the amount of effort they put in. Maybe Moyes needs to sit down with him and trawl through some YouTube videos of players like Straw,Niasse,Joe Harper,Phil Neville to name a few. No excuse for a lack of effort and application.

Phil Neville is like Zidane in comparison to our strikers.

Once again what was he supposed to do during his time against West ham we barely had the ball in the general once he was subbed on and we rarely looked open to involving him in the play up. We have better players on the wings and at 10 this season but we're looking very disjointed when we attack especially the most recent games, in which opposing teams sit back in their box. Sending in aimless crosses when they're prepared isn't helpful need to provide more service like we did for Keane in the first half

Marcus Bent and Andy johnson. Marcus Bent surprised me a lot. Played the lone striker so well and his attitude was great. Ran his socks off for the cause.
