2025/26 Thierno Barry

I personally think people are 'seeing' things in Barry because they're desperate to convince themselves he's not yet another failed expensive signing. His body language on the field is awful and he's done absolutely nothing at all as an Everton player yet.
I imagine this is the reason Thierry Henry decided to highlight him on Monday Night Football after the Brighton game.

He was not at all what we needed when the only other alternative was Beto. If you have one terrible striker, you do not bring in a youngster in exactly the same mould with no experience in the league and pin all your hopes on him.

One thing I'll agree on is he needs time. He's here now so we can't change that, Beto is bad enough so might as well give Barry a run until Christmas imo and see what he can do.

Hopefully he makes me eat my words, but I'll still maintain it was the wrong transfer to make with £30m plus available for a striker.

I said people would be on to him about his languid body language after the Roma game. You have to be really performing to pull that off.

Nice to see the Grandoldteam body language experts are coming to the fore here. A lazy display of pseudoscience that we can use to write off a young man because he’s got a bitchy resting face and doesn’t aimlessly tear around like a wasp powered by a car battery.
I remember even Lukaku when he was here would face similar trivial scrutiny about his work ethic and mentality, a long with his mannerisms, fortunately he was able to drown out the noise by constantly delivering goals, Barry just needs to ignore the chatter and deliver , there will always be naysayers I could be wrong but I think he has the abilities to succeed.

I don’t think we even play to Beto’s apparent strengths, why would anyone think we will see the best of Barry when we actually understand what his strengths are?
Moyes seems to want / need a particular type of forward, someone who can basically hold the ball up and bring others into play, nicking a few goals from set pieces along the way, which I don’t think are either of Barry or Beto’s forte.
Only two exceptions to that I can think of are Yakubu and Saha 🤷🏻‍♂️

How many of us can honestly say they new anything about him before he came, did he play in a 2 or was he a lone striker at each club, opinions were made on him before he even kicked a ball.

Do I like the look of his attitude recently, no, but if he starts scoring, putting performances in, then he can as glum as he wants..

His previous teams were in a lot slower and less quality leagues. he's now come here, 5th country in 5yrs and he's having to run around like a puppy chasing a ball..

Just wait till he hits the net and see if that gives him the boost people want to see.

Arsed with people jumping to conclusions about his attitude because he hasn't scored and got a bit miffed when someone did a sly tackle on him so he did one back while on a yellow.

He's struggled to get started each time he's moved and gone up a level but he's managed it each time he's done it with a bit of time and patience.

Give him it.

All our Scouts thinking they new something about him. Obviously Scouts who have'nt moved on with the game, with better and quicker defenders and the pace of the Premier lge that was needed.

Call me old fashioned, but when I support a footy team I try to see the best in everything about it, hence supporting it. It's a wild idea wanting your players to do good and not cast judgement after being here 5 minutes, but your arse flaps up and down more times than I change my underwear (which is daily I hasten to add).
