lets face it mate, our gov was in charge down there, they may have had their own gov but we dictated what went on and who went there, as they were handed over to the church i would say that many weren't even officially in the country, there's probably no records of them even arriving downunder, if there is they will be hidden away in the vaults and catacombs of the religious institutions.

our empire commited atrocities all over the globe but this is one that we did to our own, to think that kids the ages of my 3 would have been sent away and told their parents were dead, sent to place on the other side of the world and then seperated and abused makes me feel sick. prisoners of war were treated better, and these were our kids, our future, some of whom were in care cos their parents were involved in the war effort. as i've said, the apology should be coming from The Queen herself, backed up by the leaders of the religious institutions involved, and i mean the top dogs, not some new young vicar or new priest being thrust forward as a token.

these people deserve nothing less, and make sure they get compensated in a way that means they can maybe try to enjoy what time they have left, it's not like the guilty ones cant afford to do that.

Basically you are right Reids but I do object to finding adverts from Solicitors on the windscreen of my car telling me if I find some one with a compo claim I weill enter a free draw worth £1,000. I'd like us to go back to the days when a solicitor was judged by merit not by the amount of bogus case they have, advertising should be strictly limited
