I have a log burning stove installed in front room. Heats downstairs a treat and I have access to unlimited and free chopped wood from work. Perfect.

I keep it cool for my pooch.

The Mrs has got this massive thick duvet though that I kick off during the night then wake up freezing, can't win, and she still says it cold FFS

Usually have it on 26 when it is on.

Having one of these put in now, for novelty really. Not convinced it's cheaper bills. A net of logs at £4-£5 go easy in an evening.
Is it going to run 7 radiators and provide your hot water? If not then it's a luxury way to just heat your living room - home bargain sell sawdust logs that burn for an age, and I have got hold of Columbia coal that the power station burns in London try a coal merchant who can supply this stuff it's like the good old British coal (not avail either now in quality)
My fire is an open Dunsley enterprise back boiler from Holmfirth Youkshire fantastic can be kept running 24 hours for need be;)
Provides all the hot water for shower and baths as well as central heating it has to be fitted professionally mine is an open fire you can still by these fires!

After the initial argument of when to put the heating on, the next cause for disquiet is the setting of the thermostat.

Ours is usually between 18 and 20 degrees , anything higher than that is just utter madness

Next door however are obvious deviants. Despite temperatures outside reaching minus figures ,you can clearly see them prancing around in shorts and T-Shirts, putter a jumper on FFS.

They've obviously more money than sense or they're just crazy hedonists without a care for financial security or the well being of Polar Bears.

Point of note, despite their T-shirt attire bearing no familiar markings I have them pegged as Kopites

Anyway what's yours at?

eh? we have radiators that go between 1 & 5. They're on 2 as i'm tight but when I'm not looking she whacks them on 5.

Just come in and the heating is on 20°c and the log burner is belting away with half a forest in it ffs. The sooner my son and his family move to their new home, the better.

Id never have it on to be honest. The odd 18 degrees for half an hour when really cold.
Cant sleep when the Mrs has had it on and i get in after a late shift.

My heating is generally on, but controlled by a wireless thermostat at a constant 22 and all my rads have individual stats set at various points between one and five. I'll level with you - I have very little idea whether this set up is economical or ecologically sound, but I am warm right now and we don't roast in the summer.
