How much would be required for David Moyes to assemble a side which would challenge for the league within three years.

8mil keeper
10 mil right back
12-15 right wing
15-20 mil striker

probably around 50 mil will get us a regular top 4 spot, not sure to challenge for the title

Don't think that is needed.

We need a large squad to definately challenge for top 4 or the league. I think yakubu's great but if he gets injured or has a dip in form we need to have a replacement. we need players to challenge for their positions

I don't actually believe we need to spend that much.

Liverpool have done it with one player. Gerrard. They have spent not much more than we would spend if we had the money, but we also have better potential in our squad, maybe not individuals, but as a collective.

You wouldn't be wrong in saying that over the next 3 or 4 years we are going to have 5 or 6 exceptional young players coming through and staking a claim. So why spend £20m on one player we don't need. Like Jo for instance, we don't need to spend £18m on him.

We need someone like Moutinho, and to be honest with the current setup, I would say that would be enough. Add in some squad players, mixed in with the youth, and that would be fine.

The Mout 15-20m
2x Wingers 20-25m
Striker 15-20m
Right Back/CentreBack 10m
Centre/Defensive Midfielder 10-15m

Then we could easily win the CL, league and possibly the World Cup.

Realistically though? Maybe we can have a forum for serious discussion.

As ive said in another thread, you are on ******* crack.

We need wingers and we need a replacement for Arteta in case he gets injured again. We also need a replacement or a partner for the Yak. Hibbert isnt good enough, no matter how great he has been this season. We also need a replacement for CB. Seems Lescott will be the LB replacement, that would leave us short if Baines and Jags where to get injured.

Winning the title is not something that can be done overnight and no matter how much I love some of the players within the squad, they are lacking and dont have that little bit extra to take us to winning a title.

Now please, jog on.

Winger/Striker/CM/GK

Winger - £12m
Striker - £15m
CM - £15m
GK - £9m

Total - £51m

With the CM being creative, Winger being creative with a good shot (Bentley/Joaquin), the striker willing to do some running and do the work Yak should be doing. And a Goalkeeper to keep howard focused.

GK

Neville - Jagielka - Lescott - Baines

Arteta
Winger - Cahill - Pienaar

Yakubu - Striker

Bench: Howard, Hibbert, Yobo, CM, Osman, Fellaini, Saha,

See how that works, if it fails, bring in Hibbo, push neville in midfield and Cahill further up the pitch.

only transfers that i really admire of Rafael's are Reina for 6mil, alonso for 10.7mil and torres for 20mil, coincidentally they're all spanish
