Whats the deal with barcas transfer ban, did they get it overturned
He's nowhere near the Barca first team....at least 4 or 5 in front of him and they always buy a big name at Presidential election time. I think you'll be very happy come the new season. Gerard needs first team permanent football....and he knows he'll get that at Everton. He loved it here so it's not even a gamble for him.
They are all reasons why he might join us. Sadly there are the same, possibly more why he won't join us.

Why wouldn't he?
Go on then, enlighten us.
- we have no idea how much he's cost and we are perennially skint
- he will have lots of options should Barca even want to sell him. Some a lot more attractive than us currently.
- Martinez has already said its massively unlikely. Although I appreciate we take his words with a pinch of salt.
- Barca can't buy people. And although Deulofeu is nowhere near their first team they can't even bulk their squad with reserves. He'd be a decent reserve.

You forgot to mention that he might not be good enough for Everton, and that better players are available at the same or even cheaper prices.
Good chance Barça will line up signings for January 2016. Which makes me think they may keep hold of Gerry till then. Depending how much playing time he has there and how he takes advantage of it he'll stay or be off in January at the latest.- we have no idea how much he's cost and we are perennially skint

For £10million Cabaye would be a great signing despite his age. Can't see it happening though. We can sort our wingers out through signing Lennon for a measely 7 million, and then signing one of Ayew or Konoplyanka on a free. However I very much agree that we require a player with the so-called 'X-Factor', but I think this player needs to be in central midfield. Because no matter how much you are in love with McCarthy, Barry or Besic (and some people actually are in love with them), they do not possess anywhere near the levels of creativity that are required by the central midfielders within top Premier League teams.
We need a player like Yohan Cabaye to create and score goals in the middle of the park. He will come quite cheap, around the 10-15 million pound mark, and he would make a great difference to a club like Everton. I know Cabaye was convicted of raping a ball boy during a game at Goodison, but that won't stop the likes of Arsenal, or other top clubs going for him, and it shouldn't stop us either.
