The Wire revisited (with spoilers)

Recently rewatched all 5 series. Still is incredible viewing and makes a change watching something so well produced and written compared to hundreds of forgettable series that I’ve seen recently.
That been said, it noticeably falls away a bit at the end. People don’t like the docks series but this holds up well as one of the best IMO. Thought the brother Mouzone stuff was the weakest story line alongside the dumb homeless serial killer thing at the end.

Best series in order 1-2-4-5-3

Best 5 characters: Bunny, Avon, Bodie, Bubbles, Frank Sobotka.

Worst 5: Brother Mouzone, carcetti, Cheese, Prop Joe, Herc.

Favourite scene: Daniels facing down Burrell in series one.

Agree on Prop Joe - he was far too cartoonish, like a Breaking Bad character.

Great series. Shakespearean.
Have a friend whose apartment was used for a scene of one of the episodes in the first season. Her landlord’s apartment was used for one of the major characters-believe it was the female detective whose name escapes me

Someone told me Daniels looked like the Oscar statue and I’ve never been able to shift it.

The Docks (Season 2) is my favourite

Get a real sense of the place. Some great characters in that season also. Made no sense for the Greek and that little man to come back on the scene though.

Carcetti is based on former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley. It’s not subtle at all tbh. His real-life affair was actually much more interesting than in the series.
He’s the fella that ran way behind Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders in the Democratic primary in 2016.
