The Untouchable Church Mouse

..there've been lots of threads on this theme. I always point to our two most successful captains, Kevin Ratcliffe and Brian Labone, neither of whom were shouters or demonstrative on the pitch.

I think our problem is much deeper than needing somebody to rant on the pitch. Rooney is clearly the leader, regardless of who wears the arm band. Williams and Sigurdsson are senior professionals and experienced internationals. Captains being as quiet as a church mouse is how some of them are.

I know where you're coming from as it does irritate me too.

Antonio Valencia
David Silva
Petr Cech
Gary Cahill

The captains of the top 4 clubs at the weekend. I'd hardly describe at least 3 of them as "shouters". Maybe football has just changed so much that managers don't feel they need a voice in the pitch now?

No leaders?

Oh Come on, come on...

Stubbs Cahill Ferguson Campbell Carsley Gravesen Yobo Neville. Some players clearly better than others but st least they had a bit of character. It's been completely devoid from Everton for a long time.

Yobo - do me a favour he was quiet and never a leader.

Ferguson only turned up for the big games.

Carlsey was a work horse but not captain material.

Stubbs was an idiot and still is.

We had a few chances to breed a new mentalitity, but instead we have handed the armband down from loser to loser, neville, jags, osman, all passing on their insecurities from one to next, instead of making a fresh start
