First up.

Aliens.

Do you believe in them?

And more importantly...Have you seen any? (Not the kind who sit in the Kop either)

Are you the kind of person who'd think someone is a loonatic if they claimed to see an Alien? Or would you genuinely be interested?

Yes.

No.

Depends on the person, doesn't it, but I think if I was younger I would have been genuinely interested, but now I am more sceptical of these so-called alien abductees.

I still think it would be naive to think we are the only forms of life in the massive universe.

I remeber a famous (is there such a thing apart from Patrick Moore??) astronomer say something like this:

"If only 1 in a million stars had planets, and 1 in a million of those solar systems had planets with water, and 1 in a million of those planets with water could sustain life, and 1 in a million planets capable of sustaining life, did, then there would be millions of planets with life on them."

And they could quite possible be more technologically advanced than us, or they might not be.

are you ready?

i have witnessed an unidentified flying object, not only that, i was in a group that witnessed the exact same thing, at the exact same time.

In fact, granada made a regional program called 'origin unknown' shown in the northwest about the phenomenon that night.

i swear, it was most curious. i remember it like yesterday.

One thing that REALLY bugs me, is the fact its taken for granted a planet must have water to sustain life.

Its extreamly ignorant to think every life needs water, WE, need water because our body needs it, who's to say "aliens" would? They could look at our planet and say "nah, no life there, theres no hu-bla-googa"

some guy got a payout from the bookies for life on mars, and im not talking about john simm.

with regards water for life, its the question of carbon based life for or 'other' based life form.

one of the moons around jupiter is covered in liquid, scientists say it is liquid methane (due to it being so cold).

oh, and last year pluto was down graded from planet to orbitting meteor (due to it being so small, there are in fact other orbitting 'bodies' larger than pluto)

im doing my best to find some links to the story i mentioned. its from something like 10 years ago. i had a load of stuff saved in my emails, but i lost 2 years worth over christmas, which was a bit of a sh*tter.

Given a chance, and decent weather I get my scope out and trip round the universe, it is sight to behold, the best show on earth. Twice I've seen things I could not explain, never with the scope always with the naked eye. I was watching the passage of Haley Bop comet some years ago from a beach in Scotland, beautiful night and as clear as could be. I watched an object, no more than a point of light, rise above the earths polluted atmosphere and head towards me at great speed, considering the object never got brighter than a point of light, similar to a transient satellite, it was impossible to say how far away it was at any time but it was silent. It was crossing the constellation of Leo when it stopped dead and 'hovered' for a time then moved back seawards and an immediate acute angle. I had seen this happen once before, at Moreton on the Wirral when a mate thought he'd seen a helicopter coming towards us at night, he only thought it was a helicopter because it stopped dead and again moved off at speed (far quicker than any copter could). Both events defied that natural laws of physics as meteors etc don't behave in that fashion, I've seen more shooting stars, some spectacular, than I care to remember.

Is there other life forms out there, the answer has to be yes, although the instance of life may not be as prolific as people think. It is now established that life doesn't need water, doesn't need oxygen but it does need a combination of events to make known life sources thrive. However I cannot see why anyone would want to travel incredible distances to see this speck of life in the universe. I do believe people see the unusual, BA have flown many strange craft from Preston works. At some future date I also believe that time travel may be possible so what we are seeing could be from our future and not elsewhere. Whatever you believe in look at life and science with an open mind, its the only way.

I honestly think life exists somewhere, I don't believe there is any life like humans however as in "intelligent life" maybe we will find bacteria and other small orgnasims but not much else.

Is it still true that we know more about the universe than we know about our oceans?

That remains an astonishing fact Rob. Shows how fickle we humans are! The one area that could save our planet not only gets ignored but we dump our crap into it at will, astonishing.
