I'm not sure what this thread is about so I'm just gonna post a picture of this cactus that looks a bit like an octopus.

No need to take this one further in the thread it was started in, but:

Thanks lid, I wish I could unbirthday about 15 of my own...trust me. I guess I just find these threads odd, considering how terrified the English are of making a spectacle of themselves.

I thought that was Yankee territory, no?

If anyone ever starts a birthday thread for me I'll strangle 'em, or get Bryan to strangle them anyway.

You could have a point, there. My mother-in-law from Horwich/Chorley was 53 for three years . " I can't keep doing this. I'm 53 , now " she used to say. Three years straight she said it

Time moves slower than a Koppites brain cell round here so it's just possible she was right

Every year is getting shorter
Never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught
Or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation
Is the Evertonian way
The time is gone
The match is over
Thought I'd something more to say...

Ahh mate

My dad walked out on my 18th - due to that I like to celebrate not only mine, but all others days of birth.

It should be enjoyed, not played down.
