All this talk about 442 and 451 and whatever. Its rigid. Why don't we go old school and bring back the trinity?

Barca kind of do it, but they are more fluid all over the pitch.

How about this.

Fellaini, Rodwell and Arteta in the midfield. And then build the side around that.

interesting Idea.. I Like where you're going.. I would argue about building anything around Mikel atm though.

Whatever we do we certainly need to change. The system is clearly not working, it's up to our highly paid and highly rated manager to come up with new ideas. I personally dont think he will change anything. He'll just keep banging away and hope for the best.

Well for the future I was thinking more of Barkley instead.

Never done one of these before, but lets go.

Howard

Coleman Jags Duffy Baines

Fellaini Rodwell Barkley

Donovan Baxter ?

Gueye* maybe on the right wing, Donovan on the left with Cahill in the middle?

Howard
Coleman- Jags- Distin/Duffy- Baines

Rodwell - Fellaini (Deeper) - Barkley

Gueye - Cahill - Donovan

how sweet!!!

ghost and nordecke sitting in a tree K........................:P

nice to see everyone getting on!

You put your striker in the box and keep him there.

You play a creative player off the striker to create chances.

Simples.

Is Baxter your new Kissock lid?

Baxter is a talented player and proving at every level bar senior. So some people make it some don't. It's a shame if he doesn't because he could be a solution to our problem, he obviously pissed Moyes off because 3 years ago he played him in the first game of the season.

He doesn't look ready for the first team yet mate.

But he was 3 years ago, and last season in some Europa games. Thing is mate, and no disrespect, but how do you know? How does anyone know? Players need to have a chance, and something is clearly not right - yet he gets a first team number, just seems mad.

He has the ability, all the experts agreed he was well ahead of his age group, but for some reason or another, in two and half years he hasn't been able to get a game.

Don't see how the 'trinity' would be any different from a 4-5-1.

The 'Holy Trinity' played with a pair of wingers, Morrisey and Husband mainly, with Royle up front, Ball being the main attacking support.

I'd be thinking more of a 3-5-2. using Coleman and Baines as wing backs. Something like:

GK (Mucha for me at the min)
Neville - Jagielka - Distin
Coleman - Arteta - Fellaini - Rodwell - Baines
Cahill - Beckford
