I like it the way it is, but perhaps you should change the name of the threads to make it easier for people to understand
One thread could be called "rumours made up by newspapers", the other could be "rumours made up by posters"

......definitely better splitting the aspirational stuff from the actual, even if the links are tenuous. Everybody will have a wish list of players they would like us to sign but the reality is that it's only those targeted by RM that really matter.

Should do it for every thread imo.

That's the post of the thread right there mate.
All threads should have a multi. Tis chuffing genius that !

Anyway, the votes are 21/21/16 at the moment
Chico would be proud of the way we've split the forum on this one

For any statisticians watching :-

"Speculative" thread is getting more popular now it's been stickied, with about 1300 posts and nearly 41000 views.

"Credible" thread is on about 2100 and 173500 respectively.

Just a reminder that this is your place to air criticisms or otherwise on the split of the two threads, and to vote if you havn't already done so. Votes on the two main options are pretty even and cheese on toast is doing pretty well, so there's a sizeable minority who are probably happy to wait for announcements on the OS.

Current stats :-

Speculative ~ 1700 posts and 53000 views ( so up ~ 400 and 12,000 in 2.5 days )
Credible ~ 2700 posts and 220,000 views ( so up about 600 and 50,000 in the same time )

My take on that, lots of posters want to talk about ifs and maybes, which is fine, nothing wrong with that at all.
Lurkers are a bit more interested in something with more substance.

Who's GOT for, posters or lurkers ? Both really, but without posts, there'd be nothing for the lurkers to read. In reality, GOT's primarily to talk about pasties and casual bisexuality, with the footie talk just being a nice bonus.

Seeing how Moderation/Punishment beatings have been pretty much abandoned these days on the Serious Rumour thread. Might it not be a better idea to merge the two and simply have a locked thread, updated by a mod when there is serious news pinned to the top? No responses, thoughts in it, just the news.
Would keep part-timers informed of the latest proper rumours without them having to wade through any nonsense. All discussions would happen in the merged thread without much moderation and hair pulling?

I think the two thread system works quite well, as long as the serious thread is modded strictly. Recently there's been pages of off topic discussion around the likes of Tony Hibbert e.t.c.

Which is where the problem lies. People were talking about the credible Coleman leaving rumour, which led onto discussing Hibbert as he is our other right back.

Surely still on topic?

I don't really get it to be honest.
