The Support Striker Role

We possibly have the solution already at the club - Naismith playing off Jelavic, instead of him being marooned out of position at right wing.

Good article Lid!

As you know I've thought similar myself, not least because it takes something away from Mo's game too.

For me absolute perfection in that role is Riquelme at Villareal. Ability to score 10-15 himself, superb eye for a clever pass and plays in a different area to the main striker. A player like that would have a field day with the movement of jelavic in front.

Moyes has always appeared to me to prefer to batter the door down, opposed to picking the lock. This is working at the moment as Jelavic is taking the burden off mo by playing against the oppo's dominant CB. For me this can't happen permanent.

As good as Mo is,the main striker should always be the man you build around, especially when they are as good as Jelavic. We made this mistake for years with Tim Cahill as striker after striker sacrificed his game to help Tim's. It made us too one dimensional and easy to defend against. The same thing is happening now just on a smaller scale.

How about Ross Barkley?

Best lineup for me would be 4-2-3-1
Howard
Coleman, Jags, Distin, Baines.

Gibson, Fellaini

Mirallas, Barkley, Pienaar,

Jelavic.

Barkley, Pienaar and Mirallas could drive defences crazy swapping positions.

What about Osman and neville FFS!

Nah I think that will turn out to be our best side. I'd love to see that

Fellaini is boss at CM, and since he's been playing CAM Jelavic's form has dropped. Could be a coincidence, but Jelavic and Naismith were ripping it up in the SPL together last year, and i know the PL is a different level but you'd think that would be the obvious choice with Fellaini out.

Now you've mentioned it, I really want this side as our 'best' eleven (i.e. when everyone's fit, that's the team we play!)

I genuinely believe Fellaini being pushed forward has had an effect on Jelavic.

I know they played there together last season, but I feel as thought they are getting in each others way.

With Fellaini being a sort of target man Jelavic doesn't know where to go.

Don't know if anyone else agrees
