The Rumour Mill

Here will be the transfers which might happen, probably all jarg - you know what it's like.

Michael Owen - Unattatched (Free)

This is a rumour which refuses to die. Been out of contract since leaving Manchester United earlier on this summer. I don't particulary want to see him wearing the Royal Blue of Everton but Moyes might fancy him as a backup incase Jelavic is injured.

Joey Barton - Queens Park Rangers (Free)

Mark Hughes doesn't seem to like the midfielder. Undoubted quality with the ball, but a bit of a bulb when it comes to off the field. Been told by QPR that he can leave on a free transfer - and he supported Everton as a lad.

Could happen.

OFF TO FRANCE, NO INTEREST FROM OUR CLUB WHAT-SO-EVER.

Charlie Adam - Liverpool (£2m - £5m)

Moyes' brother in law or something is his agent, not wanted at Liverpool - few newspapers saying we're in for him. Can't see it myself.

TRANSFER FAILED:- GONE TO STOKE CITY.

M'Baye Niang - Caen (£2m)

Nobody actually knows what's happening, came in for a trail and everything has suddenly gotten quiet.

AC Milan sniffing around for the 17 year-old wonderkid. Could be another missed opportunity.

TRANSFER FAILED:- OPTED FOR MILAN. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11671/8027638

Kevin Doyle - Wolverhampton Wanderers (£2m?)

Sky Sports News running a story about Everton and Villa enquiring for the Irishman from recently relegated Wolves.

Probably just jarg.

Johnny Russell - Dundee United (£3m)

Sky Sports News ran this on the same day as the Doyle story. Really good player, would be happy if he signs.

Possible.

Yoan Gouffran - Bordeaux (£1.5m)

Decentish striker, Sky Sports News ran this today with the Doyle and Russell story (27th August).

Last year of his contract, Moyes likes a gamble.

Wayne Rooney - Manchester United (loan)

Twitter (not a reputable source of anything) exploded on Tuesday morning with this rumour.

Wouldn't surprise me if SAF and Roo' have had a falling out, but I just can't imagine him returning when he's still in his prime.

Lewis Holtby - Schalke (£3m)

The German 'wonderkid' is running into his final year at Schalke, might be wanting to sell him.

Supports Everton, constantly bigs them up.

Possibility.

Christian Benteke - Genk (£5.5m)

The Guardian running with the story that Everton are tracking Benteke's situation as Aston Villa have a bid rejected.

£5.5m for the tall Belgium. Too expensive for Moyes?

Maybe?

AGREED TERMS WITH ASTON VILLA:-

Woofs McBark - Unattatched (Free)

Was at the Leyton Orient game, pictures given to me by a Twitter ITK show the player warming up before the league cup clas.

Good first touch and had great dribbling ability.

SIGN HIM MOYES FFS

Bryan Oviedo - FC Copenhagen (£3m)

Should be good cover for Pienaar and Baines. Been linked with him for a while now.

TRANSFER BID MADE:- http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19423536

SIGNS FOR EVERTON FOR £1.2M:- http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/aug/31/everton-bryan-oviedo-transfer-deadline?newsfeed=true

Steven N'Zonzi - Blackburn Rovers (Around £3m)

Central midfielder from Blackburn, been linked to him in some of the press.

OFF TO STOKE BY THE LOOKS OF THINGS.

Michael Essien - Chelsea (Loan)

Not in Di Matteo's plans.

Being linked.

Jack Butland - Birmingham City (£6m)

SSN came up with this at 7pm.

What the hell?

Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe - Club Brugge (£)

Out of nowhere.

It's on

I reckon we will sign one more player. Knowing Everton we'll wait till the last 5 mins of deadline day.

We need at least one good player (i.e. somebody to seriously challenge for a starting space) and one squad player in before the window. I'll be disappointed if the manager isn't able to do that after the quality of players he's allowed to leave the squad.

The OP calculations fails to take signing on fees etc into account but we're still in the black for this window and MUCH more importantly, we've done good business, held on to key players.

I would like to see us sign another player on the cheap but if we can't get a good deal, why not wait until January and see?

We have no reason to be concerned about the team's quality - depth is the issue and January is exactly the time when lack of depth can become more noticeable, so let's save the cash and spend it then if needed. In addition, January is a good time to sign players who may be unhappy at their clubs due to lack of action, managerial bust ups etc.

Good window for us so far!

People who say "I'd be happy if we don't sign anymore players", will be eating their words once we pick up a few injuries.

We'll get one, possibly two players this week.

Also think we'll see one or two leave, plus one or two loans out as well.

Also convinced Donovan will join again in Jan.
