World champs Brazil 6-0
World Champs France 6-0

Canada no marks 3-0

Cahill, Neill, etc. the team peaked on the back of them and others
The sad thing is they are still the better players in the team
The Canada result places them just where thay are... just above Canada, where ever they are.

Oz fans; get real and back to normal

Play like it's 1999...Lets do the time warp again... the goodtimes have gone.

As Egypt was getting throttled yesterday, a few US writers were already putting Bob Bradley's name in the hat for the Socceroos job.

Don't think anyone here is under any illusions about how crap we are at the moment. As you say, Cahill, Neill etc are still our best players.
Nevertheless, we have qualified and will get to play 3 games in a World cup in Brazil, hopefully the ballot is kind to me and I get the tickets (y)

Frank Lowy (Head of FFA) has already said that it will be an Australian who gets the job. Not sure this is the right move though, no real top managers in Aus at the moment

I think it might be a good move for Australia to appoint a local manager for the long term home bred development of coaches in your country.... To be honest, it is one of the only ways an Australian coaches are going to get the experience of competing at a top level.... A-league and Asian champs league don't cut it in that respect.... From international exposure, they are able to show what they can do, earn respect and maybe get some of the bigger jobs around Europe such as in the PL ect.... It could help pave the way for future Australian coaches to coach at international and European levels.....while also raising the coaching standards across Australia, which in turn produces better footballing talent....

I can definitely see the merit in that, I just don't think we have anyone who is an obvious choice to take over the national team at the moment.
I think we should go all out for a top international manager and make it part of the deal that he has to work with and develop our local young managers when there are no internationals. Think how much Vidmar, Popvic or even Edwards could learn from the likes of Hiddink, Trapatonni etc
