Answers are always sought over Football Clubs fortunes, particularly when one season, a club is doing extremely well only for the almost identical squad appearing to look completely different the next season. My question and answer regarding Everton's fortunes are as follows, and please feel free to debate my query.

Question- Why are Everton not the same unit they were during season 2007-08?

Answer- The departure of Lee Carsley!

No.

The real reason is the lack of money to strengthen the squad.

We really [Poor language removed] it up in the summer, we had a great chance to really progress.

I will not be entering Goodison Park if Kenwright is still at the helm next season.

Aah, so that's why you dislike Fellaini, because we used all our transfer funds out on on one player. I knew i would draw the truth out of yoe eventually ;).

The fact that a club who finishes 5th in the league last season spent less then some of the promoted sides is beyond a joke.

Yes, but not in the way you may think. Lee Carsley has dropped a division because he's not good enough for the Premiership anymore and he knows it. Last season he was left wanting against some of the quality players.

We have missed a defensive midfielder, not a Lee Carsley. We have not brought in a defensive midfielder. Well we have but the manager refuses to play him.

Think back to last season. The exact same thing happened against Villa with Carsley in the side. We scored and then switched off straight away. Or maybe the Newcastle game where we did exactly the same thing with Carsley in the team.

It's really is a boring boring subject. Our defensive problems started late last season when Carsley was in the side. We kept one clean sheet in the last 10 games.

But I do agree that Carsley's pace and tremendous passing ability would've been superb today. He defo would've caught Young on the straight run through to goal.

Arteta played very well in the holding role today. He won tackles and actually took responsibility when we had the ball (something Carsley never did).

That is true, its [Poor language removed] out of order. Fellaini is a very good talent and you will see it happen, too many experts rate him as a very good young upcoming talent.

The tag was probably over inflated, but that has a lot to do with the club making a cats arse of the whole transfer window.

The real problem is we have a chairman who will not let go.

I admit Fellaini is a decent player but won't be world class.

For 20 years of age, he is a decent player but nothing outstanding.

He isn't or will never be worth 15 million. Maybe a 10 million pound player at best.

People don't realise but he was without doubt a panic buy. Kenwright and Moyes absolutely [Poor language removed] one when they realised they hadn't spent any money and had recieved 10 million for AJ. They phoned up Liege, told them name a price and we'll pay it.

i thought carsley was a fantastic servant to the club, and yes there isnt a player doing what he did. however, i see the change to the set-up being a bloke who coached a poor and bland England team, was coach at newcastle last season when they did feck all and now he as made us into a bland, inert team who for the majority dont create enough chances. i blame steve round, so much so that i'd rather have had mclaren as coach.

Was you a fan of James Beattie Cal? Because he was the panic buys of all panic buys in my opinion despite him signing for Everton with plenty of time to spare before the transfer window closed.

He wasn't a panic buy, i don't think.

He was a decent goalscorer but ended up being proper [Poor language removed] and never looking in decent shape.

He did well in the 05/06 season and looked in good shape.

Completley lost it when AJ came.

Fellaini was a panic buy, I'm sure of that but we've got him now and I'd like to see him develop.

I think he's developing nicely. He will never be world class, I don't care what anyone says but he's a handfull, a decent footballer and a bad nuisence.

Some teams don't know how to handle him. If he learns to use his physical tools week in week out he'll be very important to us.

I'm liking his partnership with Arteta aswell, the first time in a long time we've controlled possession and bossed a game. I wish Cahill woulddrop a little deeper aswell, he'd be much more effective.

Signing a player "Beattie" for a then club record fee, already injured and overweight, is in my opinion a panic buy. Because we really needed a striker, he fitted Moyes's criteria perfectly, but what did he do for Everton? Excuse me Cal and Co, but this subject is going off track here! My fault.

This season - a number of problems.

Carsley going - a shock to the defence yes, and he was a great help for them. But the defence really shouldva adapted to his loss by now.

Players in some poor form - Arteta, Yakubu, Lescott etc...Now they are starting to improve.

Moyes - Constantly whining about lack of money - we know - now do what you can with what you have like you are payed to do. He has nothing to whine about when he spends £15 million on one player - and forgets about the other money in the Jan transfer window.

i wish fellaini would put some power into headers in the box, head back lad and power the [Poor language removed] home, think how good it would look with that hair, timeless like gullit with his dreads.

i think he's gonna stop at nothing short of one like that after seeing it today.
