The Queen's visit to Ireland

She will be fine. The vast majority of the Irish might be a bit anti English, understandably, but the same vast majority are warm, generous hosts, who will welcome HRH as a guest in their wonderful country. The nutters on the extremist fringe who might want to cause harm are well known to the security forces, and I am sure she will be ok.

If anybody shouts anything remotely offensive, I say we :

She can do one, massive road closures and no bodies bothered ffs. Half the public service been told to take the afternoon of and go see the queen, just to make up the numbers. Bring on the Europa final and Barack.

She better be okay or certain people will have HSD to deal with!

I wish more people still respected the Queen, lets give this day and age a little bit of niceness and tradition back and stop "not caring" for the Queen.

Bad, bad people.

I love the Queen and the Princes - fact.

Im not really to fussed about the royal family. But why is it the cool thing to do to hate on an old lady? An old lady who is a massive positive symbol across the world. She might not have much say in what goes on. But a world with the queen is better than a one without. All this anti English rubbish does my head in. Not because I'm English per se (although maybe a little) but because its so pathetic. You ask an Englishman what he thinks about Scottish, Welsh and Irish people and it'll just be meh, or, I've got a mate from there. You ask them and you'll just get a load of bile from a lot of them. Put it this way they care a lot more about us than we do about them. How anyone can abuse an old lady is just beyond me. No matter what you think of her politically, xenophobically or whatever, at the end of the day she's like 90 years old. Absolute titheads the lot of them. Anti Englishness is for kopites.

It was a stupid idea her going over there anyway.

Only gonna be antagonistic. As if that hornet's nest needed stirring anymore recently.

HSD, if you read up on the history of British involvement in Ireland, you'll understand why the Queen of England isn't cherished by a significant proportion of the Irish people.

Believe me the irish dont want anything to happen. It would destroy tourism for the foreseable future along with other obvious "fallout".

see what i did there.

I'm sure most don't, for many reasons. Just don't see the point of a state visit that is only going to wind some people up.

She'll be attending a rangers vs celtic game next.

With any luck it will show that things can go as planned and maybe improve relations.

Rangers v celtic, ha everyone knows she supports kilmarnock.

There's a lot more to it than that, trust me!

On the topic of the queen, and the royal family, though... seriously? You think someone deserves respect for being born into royalty?

Respect is earned, for me, not inherited.

As long as she wears sleeves and they don't see the Rangers tat she'll be right, these are the times when it pays to have a bif of a husband that nobody likes.

A small one though, don't want to overcook it and fry ourselves. Besides, save the big stuff for THE USA.

Thats contreversial reidy TX will be after you.

Hope so. Maybe she'll buy a pint of Guinness that costs 12 euros in a touristy pub in temple bar.
