God bless her.

"A royal aide asked the government if the Queen was eligible for part of a £60m energy-saving fund in 2004, the Independent newspaper said...The Royal Household complained that the £15m government grant to maintain the Queen's palaces was inadequate. It said the grant request was to replace four combined heat and power units at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle. In an apologetic e-mail to the Palace, the government said the handouts were aimed at schools, hospitals, councils and housing associations - for heating programmes to benefit families on low incomes."

Actually Davek.

This might be some media manipulation of the facts. Coz I know YOU DEFO ARE manipulating the facts

Grants are available for Energy efficiency initiatives and use of RENEWABLES - CHP units are part of that.

THEY CAN EVEN SUPPLY ENERGY TO NEIGHBOURING PROPERTIES. Hospitals, schools and communities groups join together to get these units set up with local councils. They share heat and electricity generated and actually sell electricity back to the grid.

Huh? Dave hasn't said anything so what is he wrong about?

Or are you saying that article is making up the fact that The Queen and her household wanted part of a fund thats is aimed at schools, hospitals, councils and housing associations - for heating programmes to benefit families on low incomes?

Are you saying that just because she can, she should have been allowed to go ahead with ransacking a £60M fund set aside for people who are fuel-poor? A woman with a personal fortune of £290M?

How many poor people do you know have space for a CHP unit on their land? i.e. terraced houses.

Come back when you think this through

The queens estates have space, they can sell electricity and heat and power to neighbouring properties at CHEAP rate and are highly efficient

because they're COMBINED CYCLE ! i.e. >60% generation efficiency.

They also use renewable fuels like wood chips and biofuel derived oils.

I know because I'm a minority shareholder in a company that supplies these to communities lad. Both units, generators and fuels.

The article quite clearly states that it's through institutions used by low income families this equipment is utilised. Same difference - it's taking money off the poor, ultimately.

Please try to read thoroughly links supplied.

Thanks.

"The e-mail, which was written in August 2004, said: "I think this is where the Community Energy Funding is directed and ties in with most allocations going to community heating schemes run by local authorities, housing associations, universities etc."

"In an apologetic e-mail to the Palace, the government said the handouts were aimed at schools, hospitals, councils and housing associations - for heating programmes to benefit families on low incomes."

Go on then, tell me what part of that grant covers CHP units at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle?

You do know that those buildings are held in trust by the Crown for the British public i.e. tax payers? As well as being residences of the monarch.

Its all about interpretation. They asked if the grants were available for them to maintain the communities that are both residences. and told no.

Simple.

What scandal is there in that?

It would only be a scandal if the money were being used on things other than energy efficiency projects. i.e. CORRUPTION

Particularly since MICROGENERATION PROJECTS now try and sell electricity back to the national grid these days and therefore keep ENERGY PRICES LOWER - which helps the poorest in society.

LABOUR - had the fuel duty escalator that put 2p on fuel (no differentiation for biofuels and renewable domestic heating oils!) every SIX MONTHS

You tell me - whats worse for poor people?????

Davek just won't acknowledge that. He just wants to bash the state as per.

Read the article mate. Do you really think its saying that the royal estate wanted these grants to then help the poorest in society have lower bills?

Really?

They wanted them because they were whinging that thier fuel bills were too high. They saw a possible opening for more money public money and went for it.

But didn't get it because that wasn't what the grant was for. Read the Independant article linked and it gives examples of who got the money, pretty much all for public buildings. And the queens palaces don't count.

And you cant complain about Dave "bashing the state" when you unrelatedly bring Labour into the equation just to bash them.

Damon's out of control.

Have you ever seen that show Criminal Minds? Well Damon reminds me of this guy......
