The Pressure

I'm so proud of the boys! I've only followed Everton actively in the last two years, I couldn't have joined at a better time. :)

Amazed at this, I was ultra relaxed about the game today. We've already set our record Prem total, we are in rampant form, Spurs were losing then only drew, everything was ace.

Wimbledon and Coventry games, we faced oblivion

Exactly.

This isn't pressure.

This is sheer joy.

2 home games in the space of a week. We need to make the most of the next 7 days. Palace look safe, United have nothing to play for, same as Southampton and Hull. Forget 4th, we should be trying to win the lot just to see where it lands us. then if we get 4th it's great. There's a month left, let's just go for it.

  • Palace have lost 3 and won 1 of their last 6 away games, so we should edge it.
  • United have won their last 4 away and haven't conceded on their travels for 5 games. 0-0 sounds quite likely.
  • The Saints have had mixed fortunes at home recently. I'd imagine a low score draw or a nervy win.
  • City drew at Arsenal and Norwich. I'd be quite happy if we could hold them.
  • Hull's home record seems to have just turned a corner. They'll want to put on a good show for the final day and it could be a ding-dong game. We should, hopefully, come out on top.
WDWDW= 11 points.

So, if the Gunners win all their games they would pip us by 2 points. But if they even draw one we would take it on goal difference. They only won 1 of their last 6 away games and drawn 3 of their last 6 at home. Plus they now have the distraction of the cup final. Hopefully, it will be them feeling the pressure.

anyone today really understand SAF talking about squeaky bum time?

We will need Arsenal to drop at least 2 points. They did not look like vs Wigan a team that is going to put 5 league wins back to back, regardless of the opposition. I think they will drop at least 2.

I think 76 points will probably do us and 77 should be nailed on. 72 or more would be a historic high points total not to make the champions league. 4 wins and a defeat or 3 wins and 2 draws will do rightly.

I did a bit of an analysis of points that secured 4th place for past 12 seasons, in nine of those we would already have made it!!!!

4th 5th

BTW lids....if the RS beat Citeh tomorrow then 3rd becomes a possibility.

Say Liverpool win: City P32 Pts 70 Eve P33 Pts 66

City are home to Sunderland and West Brom and then away to Palace before they come to Goodison. Worst case scenario is 7 points, I think. So, if we beat Palace, United and Southampton it will be:

City P36 Pts 77 Eve P36 Pts 75

Theoretically then, we could overtake them if results go our way and we beat them on our turf.

Sod it, might as well go the whole hog....if we win our last 5 games we will end up on 81 points.

If Liverpool lose tomorrow they will be on 74 points with 12 points left to play for (86 possible total). They have to go away to Norwich and Palace and Chelsea and Newcastle will be visiting Anfield.

So, if City win, they will be on 73 points with 18 left to play for (91 possible total).

Chelsea are on 72 points with 15 left to play for (87 possible total).

Say the RS lose to both City and Chelsea, which they've already done once, we could end up finishing just 2 points behind them.

i remember the pressure in the 80's when we were battling it out with liverpool for the title it was unbearable and joyous at times i also remember the dark days of the 90s and being so disillusioned with the club i didn't give a f@ck what their fate was now its a happy medium i shall not live my life by their results if they win happy days if they lose oh well !!

Buzzing on the blue boys.

Don't want to get ahead of myself but I'm confident we'll beat Palace although it won't be easy.

As for Utd, well, remember Moyes has never won away at a top 4 club.
