The Oldies Thread

The stuff we got away with going to the woods in the Autumn & butchering any old trees - the furniture we burnt going on the knocker probably antiques burnt :D - then the den at the bottonm of your massive bonfie a true fire hazzard when in it ... fireworks sold from any hardware shops - all before NOV the 5th - then you looked forward to Christmas - plus you has penny for the Guy knocking on doors at night ...

all now outlawed ....
I haven't heard a firework so far this year. Different times.

I remember paying £1.90 to go in the Street end, coins at the turnstiles, except for major ties such as the Derby, Bayern etc in the 80s.

I loved my half and half beany Everton/Celtic hat, although with age I am not as enthusiastic as I used to be about Celtic. I still like them but also Hibs.

I can't remember what it was to go in the terrace at Milltown but I think it was under a pound.

Pre decimal currency was mega heavy.

Having a pocket full of coins, when I was a kid, was like carrying round a rock.

But we thought we were rich if coins were jangling in our pockets as we walked.

I remember a neighbour my age whose folks were cash rich and how I envied him always having pockets full of coins when I was a youngster!

Sadly he died after a traffic accident at just 26. RIP.
