I thought I'd create a thread were we can get things off our chest, and finally rant about something that others may feel like ranting about too.

Todays rant is aimed at the company that I think is very deserving.

mcdonalds%20logo.jpg

This is the company largely responsible for making America fat.

I would like to know how this company seems to get away with being the single biggest creator of litter in Britain.

Anywhere that has a McDonalds has a huge litter problem. The streets are full of Big Mac boxes, empty paper bags, food wrappers etc etc.
It's disgusing.
Yes, those that drop the litter are the main culprits, but the drive through scenario was started by McDonalds, and then came the open window / throw litter attitude by many motorists. Kids are notoriously bad for dropping litter, even within yards of a bin, and they just love the fact that when you buy a McDonalds, you not only get paper round your burger, but the burger is then in a box, the box is in a brown bag, and in the fold of the bag is a large receipt.
Does a burger really need all this packaging ?

Then we have the staff that are preparing your food.

Spotty, snotty nosed teenagers who have just left school, and have as much customer service skills as a snail.
McDonalds are exploiting our kids, by having a policy of employing young people so they can pay rediculously low wages, and our government turn a blind eye to it all.

Let's talk about the quality of the food.

The picture above is a typical bill board advertisement that McDonalds use to tempt you to buy their product.

The reality

mbt-3.jpg

How on earth do they get away with it?

You order food that looks great, only to receive a microwave heated, wilted salad piece of slop instead, and what do we do? ; we as a nation turn the other cheek, say thanks, and eat it anyway.
Trading standards should be constantly on their case, but for some reason they are not.

Tobacco companies are no longer allowed to sponsor events, such as the snooker tournaments etc, because the government has apparantly got our well being at the top of their agenda.

Why is it then, that fast food companies such as McDonalds, can advertise anywhere they want to, or sponsor anything they want to, yet fast food is equally responsible for thousands of deaths each year from heart attacks to over weigh issues.

There seems to be a McDonalds on every superstore car park these days, and that stupid clown is taking over the world slowly but surely.

ronaldmacdonald.gif

Should they be allowed to sell junk food specifically marketed to our children with clowns ?
They are constantly giving toys away with their product, so it's plainly obvious that our children are being targeted by this company.

Is this a good thing for our kids?

Shouldn't they be at home eating healthy food and being taught about the risks junk food poses to them?

It's much easier for irresponsible parents to pick up a drive through meal and feed the kids this crap, than spend time in the kitchen preparing something healthy.

RANT OVER !

McDonalds = (n)(n)(n)(n)(n)

Blimey....Burger King will be signing you up.....But to be fair I agree with all of what you say....I cringe everytime my kids sugesst Mcd's.......

There sure is an abundance of fat Americans, don't eat fast food, haven't done in years, although I am partial to nachos and such other junk, need to cut down.

I suppose i'll have a rant that I'm a stone or two heavier than I should be.

Went there last night and got 2 big mac meals and 'went LARGE' with chicken dippers on the side - LOVED IT !

Nowt wrong with being chubby, lard.

*Placed rubbish in bin*

Maccas over here looks alot healthier than your stuff. Modern looking restaurants, free internet, decent coffee, and a new burger called the Grand Angus on sourdough bread.

Good place to stop and have a coffee and check out my emails or google maps while im out scouting. And any kid that has Maccas on there resume here is pretty much guaranteed to be looked on favourably when they go for another job.

Just my 20 cents.

I agree, it's all the companies fault, certainly not the people that actually eat the food and drop the litter. They're completely blameless.

which leads me nicely on to my rant:

Fat Americans Sue Fast Food Firms
BBC NEWS | Americas | Fat Americans sue fast food firms

not just this, but anyone who abrogates* their responsibility for their own well being and whinges that it's someone else's fault.

I don't particularly care if someone is overweight, but it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end when they cast round all the usual suspects for someone to blame, just because they choose to eat lard and do nothing.

It's not McDonalds fault, it's not Gordon Brown's - unless you are being physically restrained and force fed burgers in some kind of bizarre human pate experiment, it's your own fault.. there's the front door... go for a f#cking walk, when you get back, drink some water instead of eating pork scratchings.

But it's me glands... bet you it f#cking isn't (thyroid malfunction and a state of hypothyroidism will only account for approx 10lb weight gain)

I can't work, I'm too fat and it's not my fault.. well it's not my f#cking fault and I'm paying your hospital bills and benefits, so do us both a favour and go for that walk.

If you can't be arsed losing weight, or are happy how you are and can happily pull your weight (however much that may be) then great, no worries; but if I have to hear one more lazy, lardy, scrounging bugger whinge and whine about how Gordon Brown should have stopped him eating pork pies or how McDonalds owes them a fortune in damages to pay for their healthcare (but don't close them down because they just luuurve those double quarter pounders) I think I'll ... well I'll seethe, and probably tut

*bonus points for abrogates?

Absolutely agree.

When I watched that super-size me film where that bloke eats nothing but McDonald's food for a month I just laughed at how stupid the whole thing was. I don't mind McDonalds, but I only eat there very ocasionally as I realise it's not exactly health food they serve. If people are stupid enough to eat their breakfast, lunch and dinner there every day then they deserve to get fat or feel unwell. These people who want to blame somebody else for the choices they make when it comes to eating fast food are pathetic. It's no different than somebody who eats fish & chips from the chippy every night and wonders why they got fat! What are they gonna do? Sue the chippy too?

Edit: While we're at it, why don't we sue Coca Cola for every cavity we get in our teeth.

+1, +1, +1 and +1

McDonalds only exists in the capacity it does today is because people are TOO LAZY to cook their own food.

I mean, seriously, how hard is it to steam some broccoli, or blanche some green beans to go with a grilled chicken breast or salmon filet? It doesn't take much effort to eat healthy (and it is still tasty).

The blame and fault lies with the person who shovels the high-fructose corn syrup laden foods into their mouths.

sayers are one of the worst in the country for litter also.

*turns blind eye & rolls down sausage roll bag.

rants go in caps :

WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY TAX IN ADVANCE WHEN I AM SELF EMPLOYED ?

1/2 IN JULY THE REST IN JAN. THEN AFTER I DO MY ACCOUNTS IN APRIL I HAVE TO PAY THE EXCESS PLUS 50% FOR THE NEXT YEAR. IF I PAY 'LATE' EVEN THOUGH IT'S IN ADVANCE THEY CHARGE ME INTEREST BY THE DAY. IF DON'T EARN AS MUCH I DONT GET INTEREST ON THE MONEY THEY HAVE HAD FOR 12 MONTHS AND 6 MONTHS.

* prepares barricades and burning tyres.

okay, you're all right of course....so where do you guys stand regarding the lovely sight of beer bellys?

Now, I have never been skinny in my life and have proabably eaten Maccy D's about 3 times. My downfall is a passion for good food and the fact that I don't know of anyone else in my family who is skinny.

It's easy to say that people who are overweight are lazy, I am most certainly not lazy, I cycle about 80 miles a week (or did before IT happened) and walk miles with the dogs.
I'm not exactly Bessie Braddock but I do carry a few pounds and don't really want a lecture on being lazy etc from people who can probably eat whatever they want without gaining anything.

So, there's my rant - people who can bloody eat like horses and are still skinny buggers!
I hate you all or should I say, envy you all!

I agree.
My rant is about the lack of personal responsibilty taken these day.
Blame and faux outrage to claim compensation.
I see it loads, it's absolute tosh.

I really wish people would stop complaining about things

It really gets on my tits when I see a bunch of people having a rant about anything.

What do you mean this isn't the best thread to say this??

In all seriousness fast food as a whole=(n)

Also I would rant about the whol state of football and citeh, but there are other threads for that
