Anichebe was very effective down the right hand side for us last season, we could do with him now. Agard is closer to Andy Johnson than he is to Victor, in terms of style.

Agard looked less headless chicken than Johnson in the whole 9 mins I saw him against Benfica...

Interesting.

Plan B then.

This one?

The definition of insanity is it not? Repeating the same failed process expecting a different outcome. It's official, this season has driven Davie over the edge.

Personally, I would like to see if introducing a Baxter or Agard to the mix could bring a spark.

For Moyes there is no Plan B :(

Just want to say that TB is exactly right here, I actually couldn't find anything to disagree with in his posts and I usually can pick him up on things.

If you don't think Arteta is both our best and most influential player then you're not very good at football.

Oh right, so I am wrong and you are right?

Ok, I concur,

I didn't think I needed to argue the point really mate, TB has done that already.

You can still stick to your guns, I mean it's not exactly a terrible opinion to think that Pienaar is more effective than Arteta, he's certainly a very effective player. It's just people underestimate the importance of having a player in centre mid that is good at it. Look at Moyes, he didn't get it for 6 years.

You don't not get it for 6 years mate. Clearly he isn't amazing in Centre Mid otherwise Moyes would have put him there ages ago.

He's naive but he's not stupid.

He was bought as a centre midfielder, played there for a bit and was moved outwide because he was our only player with a bit of invention about him, he was our only player who could work a bit of magic and cross a ball.

Our game was all about getting the ball in the box and the only wide options we had available to us where the likes of Kevin Kilbane and Simon Davies, speaks for itself really.

He did well out there so Moyes kept him there, after a few seasons it became clear that is just wasn't working any more. He wasn't seeing enough of the ball and the team itself had no one who could do what you want a centre midfielder to do.

So he was moved into the middle and even when Osman and Anichebe where out injured against Boro Arteta was kept in the middle and Moyes introduced Gosling. Even when Pienaar and Osman where out against Villa he was kept in the middle.

Moyes saw the impact he was having and kept him there, the results we where picking up and the difference in style of play was there for everyone to see, as I said, we have never played controlled, possession football under Moyes until then. I have no doubts that he views him as a centre mid nowadays.

It has nothing to do with him not being able to hack the position, it was just a case of Moyes finally realising that you do need a proper 'footballer' in the middle of the park.

I love Ghost, I do - he's quite superb.

But on this occasion, TxB=T has got it spot on again. Arteta is at the very heart of our play in the middle, for that spell between the Spurs and Newcastle games he was absolutely outstanding and if he comes back the same player I will start to get excited about Everton again.

There is no finer player on Everton's payroll, although Pienaar is ace but will leave us at the end of the season for free.

Well lets hope he does the right thing when gets back.
