Player Valuation: £60m
Arteta,Lescott,Jagielka,Baines,Coleman,Osman,Cahill,Pienaar and others.
All players brought to Everton by David Moyes, most of them have become stars of the premiership as well as international stars, all top class professionals and all very wealthy or heading that way.

Were these players heading for the top of their profession anyway or just lucky enough to come under the management of David Moyes who turned them into the players that maybe even they couldn't even dream of.

Arguably Pienaar and Arteta had played for clubs some would rate higher than Everton. Baines was Capt. of a prem side and had played a lot for England U21's and was clearly a top player in the making anyway. Lescott was also highly rated before he got a big injury.

I think he's helped all their careers but I wouldn't say he made them.

A lot of supporters said Baines was never better than Lescott in his first season or so. He's come on leaps and bounds.

arteta...good buy at time but was pretty much as good as he was going to get when we got him. Lescott...really good chance that he could have just got by in the championship if Moyes didn't come in and show faith in him.. Jagielka...didn't get better under Moyes but maturity has made him a more disciplined player. Coleman...definitely a star thanks to Moyes. Easy to miss his potential because he never looks that composed.. Cahill...the right club at right time but think his profile with Australia and knack of scoring crucial goals would have seen him a star and loved wherever he went. Pienaar...improved his consistency under Moyes, probably would have stayed in spotlight thanks to internationals....player that Moyes has made a star though is Baines...given him freedom, picked part of the midfield to suit him

He weren't IMO. But Lescott was one of the best defenders in the league at the time. Literally nothing came down his side and he was boss going forward too.

All's I'm saying is that Baines was on the path he's on now before he got here. He's a better defender and Moyes deserves some credit for that but I think we'd be seeing this Leighton Baines even if he'd gone to Sunderland.

Moyes is good at getting the best out of players who have their heads screwed on from the get go, he struggles with controlling people with attitude.

most managers struggle with players who have attitude. You need to give some examples....because Drenthe was a loon and so was VDM

This. And I doubt he would have brought the Dr in if he'd had more money to get someone permanently instead.

Scraping the barrel - thanks Bill.

At the risk of stating the obvious, Moyes is brilliant at getting the most out of "Moyes-type" players, ie hardworking players who fit into his system and play the percentages. Give him a predatory striker or a mazy winger and he won't have a clue.
