The media hates us

According to the Daily Star, Jags' improvised classic on Tuesday night was a "freak goal". Anyone else think if the darlings Aguero or Costa had scored it would be hailed as genius and replayed over and over again? Or am I just wearing my Blue goggles again?

It was a freak goal to be fair.

It took several seconds for me watching on TV to realise it had gone in and judging by the delayed reaction from our fans in the stadium it seemed the same there.

It was comic cuts goalkeeping from the alleged best goalie in the league.

You know, there was never a direct reference to our greatness on Pingu. Ergo Pingu hates us.

Organising a March against Pingu before the next home game. All true blues will attend.

Oh great. This again.

Press don't give a monkeys about us. Front pages are mainly misinformation and propoganda to promote a political point of view (usually, but not exclusively right-wing, in accordance with the self-interests of the owner). The back pages are about selling papers.

The media don't like us but that's a poor example.

If Lukaku scored it they wouldn't call it that. But when a centre back scores a goal you have to watch 5 times over to understand what happened, then yeah it's a freak goal.

The football media is full of ex-players in horrid shirts and uninformed hacks who don't know any more than we do about what's going on - probably less in fact.

When I worked on a paper the football reporters were too busy schmoozing and freeloading off the local clubs to print the truth even if they knew what it was.

The media doesn’t hate us, they just don’t see us as relevant. We’re not super rich, we’re not battling for honours every year and we’re not fighting relegation. We share the city with a team who, like or not, have a larger national and international fan base and we’re not based in London. The only way to make the media care is if we spend some serious money in the summer and buy big name players from under the noses of the Sky 6 or do a Leicester.

Even with Farhad’s billions and the new stadium on the horizon I don’t think the media are taking it seriously because we’ve had so many false dawns they just expect this all to fail at some point.

BT Sport squeezed in at least 20 Derby loss references in the course of the 90 minutes - heaven knows how many more they managed before or at half-time or at the end (cos I didn't bother with the United love in bits). Sometimes - like last Saturday against The RS you do wonder who those teams are playing (us). So much about Bugsy Moran (bless him, a fine servant of LFC, but let's not dwell all pre-game on someone who was 15 years out the game please - pictures of his son sitting in the stand with Dogleash... ad infinitum.)

They don't even bother to disguise it in their choices of ex-footballers, 3 to 1 Reds v Blues - loads of ex Man U and RS in the media.

No it wasn't a freak goal. It was a deliberate effort that found the net.

Well in Jags.
