Eagerly awaits reply from @chrismpw about
Superb. Little nuggets like this, and the reactions from the kids, are what brought me most pleasure in the classroom.

I'd enjoy framing physics questions like:

"Steevie G, cheat if our parish, travels at a constant velocity of 7m/s until he crosses the white line of the penalty area, whereupon a blade of grass causes him to tumble forward. Assuming his centre of gravity is 1.2m from the ground calculate:
A) the time taken to hit the deck, spreadeagled like he's been shot
B) how far forwards he will travel in that time.
Take g as 10m/s/s and ignore any drag from his wrinkled mutant forehead

How old are year 10 students
Have you asked them to do an Alternative Algorithm just to to be fair
They do a different algorithm practice starter most lessons these days. So I originally just wanted to frame an algorithm in a context they'd understand.

Can anyone translate the word "Schneeflocke" into English? "Flaschenjob"? "Lass es rutschen"?*.
No one? Ok, how about "No Respecto!"?

Yes, little Aldo over there, with your hand up?

"**** off, yer blocked ya virgin!"

*with thanks to google translate
