political correctness gone mad, country's going to the dogs

It sounds mad but imagine if there was no crime. The government would be on its arse that's why they need people to commit crimes to keep the government in business

that's why we need heroes like you Mick me old son, so we can point the finger and say "that's the fkn mad guy"

For me it was the offline bullying that hurt far more as there was no escape from it, online hurt but it was only a part of the bullying and I could switch off from it. Having my peers in your face was somewhat difficult to escape.

I think you're lucky that you were able to. The problem is that nowadays the net and the playground are so closely tied together through social media, smartphones etc, that there's no escape, the combination is terrible. If you want you can go looking for cyber-bullying related suicides without too much trouble at all. People really need to be careful about how they treat one another, words on Facebook will stick just as easily as words in the playground/workplace.

Fair enough. Perhaps I'm not sensitive enough and need to get in touch with my feelings more.

In this instance, as it wasn't terrorist related, it just seems like jailing someone 8 weeks for what they say online is excessive. A ban from being able to use the net at home for a period of time would have been more suitable.

There needs to be some form of punishment, 8 weeks does sound excessive, what do you get if you shout obscene stuff in public? A fine? Community service? Seems about right too.
