The 'hammers....

OK, looking at your 'mountain' we lost away to Man City, Soton and Newcastle, like lots of other sides will. Put in a terrible performance against Stoke and Hull and??????

It's been a crap month, no doubt, but that' just it. Some people are talking like we're bottom of the league with 5 or 10 games left. We're not. Also, we're through and looking good in europe. It's not all doom and gloom.

All your lists show is that you're massively overreacting.
Steken, do you actually go to the games?

We will be bottom 5 after next weekend of course. And does it matter that that will be with 17 games left rather that '5 or 10'? It will be a fair reflection of how bad we are -- for my money the worst team in the PL over the last 5 weeks.

And why keep quoting results in Europe? We all know they have flattered us. And in any event their relevance to the current situation is nil.

By the way, if we are still 4 pts clear of the drop with just 5 games to go I'll be made up!

I normally do. haven't been much this season. But I've managed to watch near all. I wouldn't disagree we're the worst side in the league over the last month.

btw, You don't know what will happen next weekend any more than me. Sunderland give Man City a good game this week. and yes, it matters massively how many games are left. 17 games is a long time to get back to form and pick points up, five isn't.

I keep mentioning europe as it'd been a long time since we fought on two fronts. Most sides, and managers, struggle with the extra games and shifting focus. Europe didn't flatter us any more than the last month damns us.

I think you're overestimating it. we're how many points off 6th? To say we've got a top 6 squad might be over egging it a bit too considering how Spurs and Man Utd spent this summer. 3 good results in the next 6, including a derby win, will completely change how everyone feels.

12 mate. Compared to 4 off 18th. Why did you use that as an example?

Full house under the lights. Hopefully the crowd behind us and either an early goal for us or (another) shocking decision against us and the place will be venomous. West Ham will bring a large and vocal contingent and it'll be a proper cup tie. Bring it on.

I'd suggest they want what a lot of them wanted after Moyes left: a continuation of the past with one of the backroom staff getting it.

I will be amazed if these players dont get their own way now on that.

I have no hope left for Roberto: he's a dead man walking now because these players are determined to see the man out. I hope against hope though that the board resist an internal appointment even in the short term and bring in another outsider who then gets stuck into this crew with an axe in January and the summer.

For me it's an insult that the following receive a wage off Everton still:

Distin
Jagielka
Howard
Osman

They need to be out the door shortly after Martinez is given his marching orders.

Agree with the general sentiment, but Kenwright will not sack the man he, and most if us, felt was perfect for the long term project of building on (most) of the Moyes era. Martinez will be here next season, and hopefully a few of the players won't.

It's my hope that happens tony. But unless kenwright has any sway over these players to pull their finger out and start acting like professionals they'll eventually force his hand in a few weeks time.

I desperately want this to turnaround though.

Kenwright isn't many things football-wise, but the impression I get from reading biographies and general articles etc is that the players really like him.....he'll not let Martinez fail in my opinion.

He let Smith go on to the bitter end in March, I suppose. Then again back in 2002 he didn't have Green and Earl to box off. I'm sure those two will be looking nervously at the stability and status of their 'asset' and having a word with him to act if this continues much longer. I remember Gregg saying he'd have dumped Smith a lot earlier but Kenwright had the greater say. I just hope he retains that now and we haven't got two Cockney carpet baggers forcing him to punt Martinez asap.

There's no chance of this being a full house mate.

I'm just hoping something will happen to galvanise the crowd into really getting behind the team so they forget whatever's going on in the background and just have a go.

I'm shocked at that availability....better take a bigger coat if it's going to be half empty....there'll surely be a huge walk-up on the night.
