You could also argue that Shaun White should be in your list for what he's done for snowboarding.
Sound a bit narrow minded calling them hobbies. Not sure how well they'd take you calling their livelihoods a hobby.

I've heard many say Golf is a hobby, not a sport. A well paying one, mind.
IMO Tony Hawk is what Tiger is to Golf, Jordan to Basketball, Schumacher to F1.
It's both. That's the beauty of it. What sort of competition is Skateboarding? Is it a race? Is it a series of obstacles? Is it a half pipe? Its a past-time for mis-spent youth and deserves no mention among the Sporting Pantheon of Eliteness.
