cant believe we were 8-1 up against philly then somehow nearly threw it all away. nice win against the pirates last night we now stand at 25-28, not bad, very inconsistent though. good wins against yankees and philly but somehow we got spanked by the Cubbies and Nationals. long way to go yet.

They're 25-28 pal.

Blue Jays doing alright, 28-26 at the moment after an 11-1 win over the Indians last night. Jose Bautista is ripping it up again, 20 home runs already.

And even better, Jo-Jo Reyes bagged his first win in 29 outings - thus avoiding sole possession of the record number of major league starts without a win.

Pirate fan but refuse to go to a game until Nutting sells the team. Unfortunately Nutting makes a tidy profit from revenue sharing by forever keeping the payroll at one of the lowest in the league and trades any big earner (i.e someone who makes a whopping 2M+) in salary dumps. So in other words he's never selling the team. MLB baseball: were you can make 15-30M/year by fielding the crappiest team possible. There are some decent young players on the pirates (especially the pitching) its too bad they wont be around when contract time comes up. Pittsburgh is by far a football city but baseball is pretty big too and fans want to go to the game (Pittsburgh is comparable to Miluwakee, a smallish football town but they have baseball owners who care so they get 3M year). The ballpark is arguably the best in the country and there is no reason why attendence shouldn't be around 2.5M/year. Its just that even the diehards won't support the nuttings now, those bastards are cost the city millions in lost tax revenue from empty pubs to empty seats.

At least McClatchy, while not a good owner with not alot of money, tried to make the Pirates a winning team.

At least we got this onion article out of it:

Well after a promising start to the season the Jays have now lost 3 in a row so we're now 5-5. Unbelievable game last night, 7-0 up after 6 innings but somehow managed to lose 8-7. Our so far impressive bull pen completely collapsing. Ho hum! It was a very good batting performance and if we continue in that form with the bat we won't go far wrong.

Whatever happened to the Jays. You used to have like the richest team in the world in the 90s. With the dollar in the toliet compared to the canadian dollar why aren't you big spenders again?

Pirates Pitching
2010 - 5.00 ERA (30)
2011 - 3.46 ERA (8) (y)
Pirates Batting
2010 - .242 AVE (29)
2011 - .228 AVE (29) :@

The strike of '94 (aftyer we won back to back World Series in 92/3) coincided with the sale of the club (or technically, it's owner Labatt) to a Belgian Brewery who was uninterested in the team. Current owners are investing more these days, but in the AL East you'd have to outspend the Yanks and Red Sox to compete financially - even with the exchange rate, not gonna happen.

But the new-ish GM has been giving more cash and seems to be building a solid foundation and I'd expect the Jays to contend in 2012 or 2013.
