The good/nice things that footballers do on the pitch

It is profoundly sad how few incidents of genuine good sportsmanship there are in top flight football, and deeply embarrasing that the only one that anyone remembers was carried out by an unrepentant fascist.

You horrendously optimistic people will like this then. He should have claimed the penalty and started a brawl, imo.

Oh, just seen BB11 has posted it. But, to be honest, none of you guys will click a link so it was probably necessary

Wonderfully I was there, think it was only my second Everton game. Seem to remember Kanoute scoring at some point. Also think Rigobert Song was booed everytime he touched the ball for some reason. But the response to Di Canio was top class.

Epic. And we got away with it in a derby. Almost unheard of. That was an opportunity for the ref to gleefully get the red out.

We really deserved that bit of luck, not normally the case is it!

Also, how hard is it to injure Suarez? He's never injured

he Japanese side Sanfrecce Hiroshima had an unusual and touching way of paying tribute to the victims of the 2011 Japanese tsunami.

Tuesday is the third anniversary of the disaster when almost 16,000 people lost their lives, and after Tsukasa Shiotani put them into the lead in their match against Central Coast Mariners in Australia, Sanfrecce's players lay down on the turf to spell out the date of the tragedy – 3/11.

We will never forget the sportsmanship of much-derided Paolo Di Canio when, in the 1999-2000 season, playing for West Ham at Goodison, he caught the ball rather than put it in our unguarded goal, when he saw Paul Gerrard lying badly injured. For those too young to remember, Paul was our goalkeeper and had dislocated his knee. I have put links to Paul Gerrard looking back at it and also a video of the incident, but the first one is one that will really make you smile, and wonder why our press (well, our tabloids at least) don't give as much coverage to stories like it, rather than dig for dirt when it comes to today's professional footballers?

Actually I do know, which is why I never buy a tabloid. Anyway, you'll like this if you haven't already seen it. More feel-good stories would be nice to read on this thread. Even if we've read them before it's still nice to be reminded of them.

No chance he would have scored from that.
