the future of films games and consoles

I paid for and downloaded a game for my PC from Electronic Arts a few years back.

After a few months, the game just completely disappeared from my programs/stopped working altogether.

Tried to get a hold of tech support with EA both via phone and email and got absolutely no response at all.

I'll never download another game again. I'll buy it in the store. If something goes wrong, I've got somewhere I can go to get the situation remedied.

Never paid for a pc game, always download them for free as soon as they come out(y) Don't play games on my pc anymore though, except for FM 2009, use my xbox now, way more convenient. Plus you don't have to keep updating the components to get the latest games to work

same here , any pc's games i get are from a torrent (usually fm or cm).
i love my pc to bits and built it specifically for gaming , but since ive had my xbox the pc has been redundant , game wise.

ps i feel sorry for the australians , they have very bad connections so ive heard from people on xboxlive.although ive read theres a 10 billion investment coming into a new aussie broadband network.source

just out of interest , the fastest 'home' broadband is 45gb and is owned by a 75 year old woman , source , a full hd film takes 2 seconds to download. I WANT THAT CONNECTION SOOOOOO BAD .(y)

another plus to memory sticks is flash memory = no loading time. that is one of my biggest complaints with newer gaming systems

the game cartridges, used all the way up to the nintendo 64, worked very similarly to flash memory, which is why you didn't have to load games. call me impatient but i don't like having to stare at a loading screen. video game companies made the switch disks because the materials are cheaper, yet they didn't pass the savings onto consumers... video games are more expensive then ever.

downloading is definitely the way of the future, the progression of gaming is all about material efficiency.

Have you seen fifa09? A nice little touch by the EA lids actually let you run with the ball and have one on one with the keeper while your waiting. But again, Its all about memory sticks n stuff for me
