Hang on with me for this one....

See it's really easy for me to support Everton. Why.? Because i live 5 miles from the ground. I go to most games hame&away. I hear all the rumors i live in the middle of it all. On saturdays i walk round the ground and soak up the atmosphear. I get to go in the pubs and meet all other othre Evertonians and talk about the game. Then at work it's mainley blues so i talk Everton 24/7......

Can you see were im going with this.....

So i come to the lad from far foreign shores. To be honest i dont know how you do it. And im not talking about the few who have just started suppoeting because of Landon arrival. Just to name a few.....Tx, DT, Neiler, Dylan, Mcbain (sorry if i missed you out) who might not have been born blue but saw the light and got the calling somtime in there lives. It must be so hard not to be involved like i am. Never to have seen Goodison to smell the air on match day or see Big Dunc smash one with his head and run to the Gwlady. Never to have been under the Gwlady at half time and sang lets go Fu*king mental and have beer thrown all over you. To never walk up the stairs and see the green grass on a sunny day and the boys walming up is unconcevable to me. I take it all for granted i know that.

We Evertonians are a special breed. But you boys in my eyes are the iceing on the cake. You have decided not to follow a sky4 club. but a proper club. and you are as much a blue as any one who go's the game. Infact you dedecation is beyond what i have to do. Following Everton is'nt easy at the best of times and its twice as hard for you lot......

I Applaud you all

OK I'm not a 'foreign' Blue but having been born in, and living in, the south and working on a Saturday, I may as well be when it comes to Goodison Park. I know I can go to away matches (West Ham and Arsenal so far this season - and Spurs if I can get a ticket) and feel the glow of all the Scouse Blues singing in the bar area (saw and heard 'Let's go Crazy' with the beer shower ending for the first time at Arsenal) but when it comes to all you describe about match day at Goodison, how I wish it was me. :(

I normally only post on Bluekipper, but this post really made me want to come out and say thanks.

I'm a Yank, living in Indiana, but I've been a blue for oh, four years. The season we got battered in the champions league, UEFA, and even the Prem. My good friend was a big time United States coach (Got offered the Libya national job, but working with Gaddafi was too terrifying :D), he got me interested in European footy. But I'm digressing. I looked to England to find my team, and of course, Everton stuck out to me. In my eyes, they were doing things right. I always appreciated the way Moyes built his team, no one bigger than the whole, the fundamentals of defense and discipline first, and how he did it with so little.

I come from a lower class family, so I've never gotten the funds to go to Goodison as an adult, though it is one of my dreams. Instead I pinch pennies throughout the year, saving money where bills allow, just so I can travel across the states to see the blues play in the preseason. I've seen two games, and it's been some of the greatest moments of my life.

I really do appreciate that some supporters don't look down on us foreigners, believing that we can be just as passionate even when it's so difficult. I only miss about 2-3 games a year on the television/computer, games which I can't find no matter where I go, so I'd like to think I follow just as closely.

But there's one thing that you'll never get to appreciate, and that's the pure joy of finding another Evertonian. Only twice have I found another supporter in the wild(outside of preseason games), but it's like finding a long lost brother.

I think my friends and family think I'm a little off my rocker for being so ravenous in my support of Everton. But they just don't get it. I don't just love the team, or the players, but the history. It may not be my own, but I can at least appreciate it.

But again, thanks for calling out to us other supporters, appreciating our dedication no matter how difficult it is to continue.

Great post mate.......you are precisley what im on about. Scrimping money to get to pre-season an i totaly understand about finding another blue and it being laike a lost member of the family....because it is...

remember..

Evertonians are born not manufactured,

we do not choose; we are chosen,

Those who understand need no explanation,

Those who don't understand;

don't matter.....

I wish to echo your sentiments Sharpy, i only 40miles away and due to my fantastic dad, and grandparents in the 90's, i've been to pretty much every home game since 93/94 and a STH since 95/96. Bar illness and hospital stays (namely having my son) who, may i add, was left with my mum for the afternoon at just over a week old so i could go again. I can't imagine not going!

Great post Sharpy. I grew up 10 miles away from Goodison, had my season ticket as a teenager with no bills and even as an exile in Aberdeen and Bristol managed to get to a number of home and away matches each season. Now I'm part of the getting up at stupid o'clock brigade but for me it's just a continuation of something I've always cherished. Those others who do it without that local grounding deserve the respect they get on here.

YANKS IN! (and the Aussies, Dutch, Irish, Poles and anyone else too.)

Well, i feel obligated to say thanks also. First post here, just because i'm too laisy to write stuff in English :D

I'm from Serbia, and I support Everton for hmmm, around fifteen years

Just like u said, I didn't choose, i was chosen by Everton. When i was younger i was reading some sports news papper and something cought my eyes, well it was Everton and for sure can be said that was love on first sight. At first it was very tough because financial and political situation in Serbia was (is)... and all the media was about utd, RS, two "big" domestic clubs bla bla bla, Everton was only mentioned in results, sometimes some article about our player, somewhere live game(probably once in a season). Latter was much easier after the introduction of broadband Internet :D. My first ever site that i was visited is OS (i know, i know...), my first email adress has everton in it...

Recently i found out that Everton have few supporters here in Serbia and in whole Balkan also, and just like Wegee said, it was just like finding lost brothers :)
Hope to see some of you guys sometimes at Goodison and greetings from Serbia

I'm one of the few Asian Evertonians. I'm hope I'm not the only Evertonian in Pakistan! I've never been to Liverpool but I'll skip my trips to London and Newcastle for the sake of relatives and run all the way to Liverpool if i have to next time I come over to England(y)

Great post sharpy. I'm a massive evertonian from Oxfordshire. I travel up to Liverpool at least four times a season hoping to get tickets to see the Europa leage game next month. Coyb

Nice one sharpy, but theres no need to thank us, after all, its what we were born to to do(y).

I have been a believer since 1984, as a 5 year old, when i got the calling while watching the fa cup final, my son(in avatar) will hopefully follow in my footsteps, and while it,ll be a bumpy ride for him, he,ll enjoy every minute, both the ups and the downs. We dont control how we feel about everton, everton control us. I realised this at wembley last year after the pens when i cried uncrontrolably like a little girl just cos we had reached a final again. I know thats sad given our history, but it was that moment i felt we were really on the road back to where we belong, at the top.

Anyway, i,ll be over again for the sporting game, to feel the buzz as goodison comes into sight and the adrenalin rush as z-cars is blasted out before the game, COYBB

just joined the site this mornin and this is the first thread i opened.

Sharpy your original post is outstanding!

I am from Bootle originally but moved to Ireland in 1993 and dont get over to see the blues as often as i would like but still manage a few games a season the most recent being the away europa game at benfica (great trip, [Poor language removed] result).

Anyway, as i said outstanding post. Much appreciated, Thankyou

Sharpy thank you for that it really brings back the memories. I cannot afford to go now so it was nice to see your comments.

I will say without hesitation your post has to be the post of the year.(y)

It has done a heck of a lot to bring our "foreign" supporters much closer, I am sure they all appreciate what you have said.

No need to thank me, it's just how i feel. Supporting from far away can not be easy. My two cousins are over from Australia this weekend. They'v never been to England never mind Goodison. But tey get up in the middle of the night every week to watch the boys. My uncle tommy wont have it any other way.

You boys are a credit to the club, no doubts....

Great post sharpy, but following Everton is easy, as it was our life destiny. We were definately chosen and I'm very proud of that. As I was growing up, following Everton was much harder, as there was no such thing as internet, not just about every game was broadcasted and I didn't speak or understand English at the time.

When I grew older, there were the English footy mags to get a lot of information from and when I started earning my own living, there was that life long dream fullfilled. Watching Everton play in the flesh at Goodison Park. Someone mentioned it in a thread earlier this week, but hearing Z-cars for the first time did make the hair on my back stand up. Also walking through Stanley Park and seeing Goodison Park for the first time was overwhelming. Oh my god, how do I love that Grand Old Lady of ours.

Nowadays it's quite easy to stay in touch with everything Everton. The internet, especially this forum, live television broadcasts and all sort of streams, makes an Evertonian life over here in Holland easy. Nothing beats going to the match though and I'm already looking forward to Eastern, as I'll be at Goodison for the West Ham game.(y)

I had to sign up just to add something to this post, i appreciate your words, and i hope there are many more who feel the same, it certainly does make a change from some forums where most foreigners are lambasted, i will not lie and say i have supported Everton from years because the simple truth is, i was only made more aware of the club with the arrival of Donovan.

It also happened that by stroke of luck i am in London due to work commitments for a month and managed to get a ticket to watch the arsenal match, although i sat nervously in the arsenal stand (is that what you guys call it over here).

From what I have seen so far, this club does feel like a club which hasnt been overwhelmed with commercialism, and is one of the more traditional ones and that is what i hope will keep me glued to it even when Donovan does leave. I truly hope one day i can come upto Liverpool (Everton is in Liverpool right?) and watch a match.

Due to this being my last week before heading back todays match might be the last match i get to watch on tv unless we play one of the so called big boys, there is hardly any coverage in the States. For what its worth its been good so far, on another note do any of you give match updates on "Fantator"
If so state your username it might be another way for me to stay updated on everton matches or news. Thanks
