Review the OP. I stated it's a very bridgeable gap. No more than a win here for us and a loss there for others.
There's no sophistry at play here. It's an undeniable conclusion to make given the 2015 form guide.
If you'd used some of Moyes's finishes in the league from January they would have had us challenging for top 3 if not the league (with a bridge able gap).
At the end of the day it boils down to consistency over 38 games, and having a good enough squad to cope with that.

Yes, but no one would ever suggested we'd slipped out of the top bracket so making that point would have been redundant.
The difference here (and the reason for the thread) is to underline that it still is the case we remain competitive with our peer group.

You could look at certain sections of form from any point of the season and direct them to suit a point you are making.
An example being, our last 3 home games we have lost to Spurs and Sunderland and drawn with the mighty Hornets, suggesting our home form is seriously on the decline.

4th and 5th have happened, but at this one swallow moment, which is were we are. I think you may be slightly over stating your case.

Agree with the premise, looking at the squad we have top six should have been achieved last season. Just hope Roberto can up his game.

It's not about yesterday's (and even the opening day's) result and getting ahead of myself. It's looking at the whole of the 20 games that's elapsed since New Years Day.
It's not overstating the case to point out that we bear comparison with teams thought this season to have the drop on us, teams like Southampton, Spurs and liverpool.
That's what's being argued here, not that we will get top 6 by right. But it's undeniable that if the form continues in the above manner this season then we'll be knocking on the door of the European places very loudly....and if we can make key signings and keep players, then we might be in for better than 6th/7th
If we keep playing football instead of that possession tripe that was served up last season then we are more than capable of challenging the top six

who would you say are the current top six of english football? not literally (points wise) in the league, but using your logic of a particular top six "peer group", bear in mind you can only pick six, if you mention any more than six teams you'll very likely be thread-banned...
