We’ve never had an identity. When we were winning stuff it was mainly because we were minted and spraying cash on the best players you could buy much like 99% of teams do when they’re dominant for a period of time. The school of science, the people’s club, the Everton way and all that gumpf is just cringeworthy attempts at marketing when we’d have been much better off getting into US, Asian and Middle Eastern markets if that’s what we were trying to achieve. It’s an affront to the fans much like the clubs ludicrous motto. Does my head in.

I couldn't care less what the philosophy is, what our style of play is, if the manager 'gets the fans' or 'gets the club' it's all utterly meaningless. These phrases come out because a teams winning, and the opposition can't counteract that. That's down to good management and players.

The only way of playing is playing to win. If that means you play total football like Holland or just stick it into the channels like TNS, it really doesn't matter as long as you're winning.

I honestly couldn't care what football we play, if it means we win that's all I care about. If Big Sam was manager and we were winning every week but it was dour hoof ball, would I care? Not really, because we're winning.

I want a manager who adapts, I want winners and natural born killers.

I think this is the issue. I don’t want a manager with a philosophy, a rigid 442 or 451 or whatever. I want a manager that understands the game, can see what is happening and reacts accordingly. On Sunday he was no better than myself calling the changes, but I’m retired while he gets paid millions.......

its actually an important debate.
I would like to have combined the “dogs of war” with Players of the ilk of Lukaku, dignes, stones, richarlison.
Some real talent, but hard grit.
For all his critics I think Moyes would have pulled this off he he had the investment we have now. Not that I want him back.
