I was over for the match on tuesday and spent a few hours tuesday, all day wednesday and another few hours yesterday shopping as the missus was with me and thats what they do best. Usually when im over id be with the lads and we would spent 99% of the time in a boozer so wouldnt notice so much the everton brands presence or lack of it around the city.

Now, the one thing that struck me and the missus was how little everton merchandise there is in the shops, apart from everton 2 obviously, and how much more red [Poor language removed] stuff there is. Its everywhere, from shops like sports direct with there wall full of red [Poor language removed] slippers to the sweet shop in albert dock with there red [Poor language removed] chocolate and sweets, and numerous other places that i seen over the 3 days.

I know most will say its because they attract more foreign fans and tourists than we do, but would it hurt the club to make our presence felt a little more around the city just to keep the brand out there and make the more 'ignorant' visitor aware of us and promote who we are, letting visitors know we are the original club of the 2, then maybe the next time when football and the city of liverpool are mentioned in the same sentence in some far flung bar people might think of us rather than them ****s.

Th marketing people of everton football club are letting us down badly in my opinion(n)

Agreed mate...but i reckon it has always been like that, well as long as I remember(i'm 43)

But saying that I feel the Stores have made strides to improve, but yes sadly lacking.

On a good note Home Bargains in ChelmsleyWood - Birmingham were selling Everton rugs and Double Sized Duvet Sets...

unfortunately they are called liverpool so there brand is more appealing to people who know little about football i.e norwegians

True but TBH they have secured a higher profile than us because of their achievemnts of late and being for many years one of the top four.

Hehe I always have a good joke with Watford fans, because in Watford market there is a place that sells football scarfs, they have Evertons scarf but not Watfords hehe ;).

Talking about brands, it's high time the club had an image upgrade. The People's Club was a masterstroke but it's looking a bit jaded. We always seem to collect a tag: Mersey Millionaires, School of Science, People's Club. What realistically could the club do to project itself now? Bear in mind these things can be disastrous if gotten wrong...<shudders at Dixie the foam man and Land of Hope and Glory tragedy>

I totally understand that they have a bigger/better worldwide image than us mainly because since the premier league has gone global they have been more successfull than us. However, i dont think thats any excuse for everton not to be fighting its corner in its own city. FFS, if we are gonna lie down and except it on our own doorstep what hope is there of catching up with them worldwide.

You think that's bad... I'm from South Africa, you know, that place
that Peanut is from... And you would think that our stores would have a fair amount of Everton merchandise because our best player is a Toffee-boy...

But NO! Only Red-[Poor language removed] and manure CRAP! With Chelski and the Arse following behind... What a load of bull! I cant even walk into a sports shop, without getting the urge to throw-up my lunch!

Our poor performance in that area probably goes back to Johnson but certainly of late you could look at how poor Wyness was as our CEO. Then what was the board doing remember how they arranged a business deal with JJB and what happened to that.

Hopefully we are getting ourselves sorted. Which is why with the likes of having Howard here and Donovan has helped our image in the US. Business wise signing Donovan permantly could be a hell of a good move.

Slowly, slowly,Catchy Monkey!Remember,Kitbag have just taken over and opened a new store in Liverpool 1 (Everton 2)Love it!).They have also opened up the new mail order website.Now.Take a look at both as they were run by JJb.****n awful!Yes we had merchandise in most JJB stores........you could find it on its very own shelf at the back corner of each store! You know you've found our gear when you trudge past all the filthy red sh*te at the entrance to ALL the stores. It wasn't long before Everton realised that JJb weren't interested in the slightest in Everton.Just the initial contract they got.Can you remember the lack of stuff in the stores and more so,the 'Mega'store?
Take a look at whats on offer now.season ticket holder events,Discounts, player meet n greet, not to mention the new products.Everton are under contract to Kitbag and so we cannot as a club ,have any 3rd party sales except those licensed at the match.
It wont be long before you go on your Jollys to Benidorm and see our shirts outside stores.Give Kitbag time & they will work wonders for our beloved Everton FC.Dont forget, they work wonders for some of the worlds biggest names in sport and rightly, now its our turn.(y)

If we could get as specifically US website I believe we would make quite a bit of money of the american market with our links to their national teams two best players.

Everton's new second-largest shareholder, Robert Earl, has been speaking about his involvement in the club..."I would like to think on the marketing side that I probably have a lot to offer. My involvement is to help strengthen the club, give them more money, give them more opportunities...I see myself as pretty knowledgeable on the merchandising side."

"It's an exciting development in the club's history in that Robert Earl and his company have bought the Gregg family shares," said Mr Kenwright. "There are no negatives about that at all - it al looks very positive. His business acumen and his knowledge of sponsorship and branding and his vision are second to none. It's worldwide and anyone who can do what he has done is legendary in the world he's in."

this will help the global brand, yes.

if there is a specific concern of red over blue in your local market, unfortunately i think the best way to combat that would be to win more and place higher than the reds on the table. many of the masses are just bandwagoners (face it), so if there is a period of time again when the blues are just always finishing over the red, then i'd imagine you'd see a lot more blue around town (fans for 40 years notwithstanding)

just speculation though, that's how sports operate here a lot of the time. People wear & fly the colors of whatever is winning. :pint:

the kitbag deal says other shops aren't allowed to sell our stuff, although when we were with jjb they had to allow sportsdirect to sell some of our shirts, something to do with the monopolies commission i think.
