Overrated tournament, too many matches went to penalties, five of the first six matches ended in draws, teams being too cautious.

If it was held in mainland Europe, it wouldn’t be talked about today in the way it is.

Of course they are going to talk about it, it was held in this country. A lot of people enjoyed it, you didnt and thats fine. I thought there was some good football during 96. With the format changed for the last couple of tournaments - 3rd place can qualify - teams do not need to be as cautious.

Booing the other teams’s national anthem, singing songs about German bombers and world wars and the Falklands belonging to them while they tell the “Argies” to “f off” in the song. “We voted leave” is another new addition to their hits.
