The Dixies. What are our thoughts on this?

..you can't change history, Dave. Liverpool and Liverpool people were strongly linked to the slave trade and that is apparent in many street names. A decision was made some years ago to keep those names rather than sweep them under the carpet because they are a link to our past, no matter how unsavoury.

I wouldn't quite put Dixie in that category but that's the name he's known by and one with historic significance to football in general as well as our club.

That was probably due to him being largely referred to as 'Dixie' and not wanting to upset those asking for autographs.
He signed a picture for me as Bill 'Dixie' Dean.

..he's certainly a top finisher. Lineker was brilliant, I'd probably put him slightly ahead but I wouldn't argue too much with your view.

Well, it didn't stop him signing a copy of "Dixie Dean - The goalscoring Legend" by Nick Walsh for my grandfather. He signed To Len Best Wishes Dixie Dean.
