The difference between us

Four years ago we had a team containing Lukaku, Deolefeou, Stones, Barkley and Barry.

We are steadily regressing, not progressing.

Barry was at the latter end of his career and has been replaced by Gueye and a progressing Davies. Del was a pointless player, he’ll have a career similar to Bojan. Barkley, for all his talent is very temperamental, and the slightest knock on his confidence sends him into a tail spin which could see him disappear into the darkness.

Lukaku and Stones made it perfectly clear they wanted out; the same way Ronaldo, Torres, Suarez, Neymar, Costa, Bale, Modric etc etc etc. This notion that we couldn’t keep hold of Lukaku and Stones is nothing more than an excuse to hit Everton with. It’s football, players want to move on no matter what.

There’s not a single argument to say our squad isn’t stronger than it was 3 years ago. How they are being used is the issue, and that falls onto the managers head.

If you think we have better players in the squad now than those five then fair play to you.

Keep making excuses, Chris....but compared to the Spurs squad of four years ago which you hold up as the mark of their progress in the interim period, our squad has taken a big step backwards.

So our squad now is weaker than a spurs squad whose midfield consisted of scott Parker and Tom Hundleston??

You are arguing for argument's sake now.

And as a result, rushing to reply without comprehending what you are replying to.

Which is.....that the Spurs squad of today is way better then that of four years ago,

But that the Everton squad of four years ago is stronger than the one EFC have today.

Ergo, Spurs have progressed during the past four years, sadly we have not.

The "four years" time scale was sommat you inserted into the argument

At no point did I compare the Spurs squad, at either end of the four year time scale, with the contemporaneous Everton squad

But since you ask, I would agree with you that our squad of today is better than their squad then.
