The Defence.......

The rot started with him. If he'd just continued building upon Moyes' team and not try to recreate it in his image, I dare say we'd be enjoying more success now if Martinez stuck with the program.

Interesting that seeing as our defence is rubbish yet most of them are Moyes players (Baines, Jagielka, Coleman).

Moyes' defence was never good enough either. We just looked better defensively as we sat back more (That's not to see we were ultra defensive) similar to how it looked "better" under Allardyce. Trouble is every time that his defence was called upon to stay resolute (ie something riding on the game) then more often than not they would fail.

So much negativity here...

@davek if Brands + Silva believe Richarlison is the next Ronaldo then surely it makes sense to sign him when available? Meanwhile, open talks with multiple clubs on centre backs...which can take time as were seeing with Barca.

The reason ia because were not after complete donkeys...these guys are in demand.

We may well have already offered £30-40mil for several others but been rejected. Mina may even be 5th choice...we have no idea.

In terms of the defence

Pickford
Coleman Holgate Mina Digne
Gana

Seems fine to me for a season...danger is when a centre back is suspended or injured.

We may well need to juat make do with one new CB for a season. Rome wasnt built in a day.

It was a sad day yesterday to hear of the passing away of Barry Chuckle
However the good news is that Paul Chuckle is to join Everton and reform the Chuckle Brothers partnership with Keano

We've signed two first team players.

There's about 46 hours to go until the window closes.

Negativity is as good as it gets from now on in. The new dominant emotions will be (in order): panic/disappointment/frustration/anger/concern.

I can't see us not buying a centre half this window. It would be madness to bring in the two Brazilians and then not play an attacking style of football because we need 9 men in defence to cover. If we get a significant upgrade on what we have in terms of centre backs then I will be content, I would like two quality CBs this window but I don't want to bring in two players who are only marginally better than what we have. Get in quality now and make do until we can go out and get another one.

Current backline is :
Coleman / Jags /Keane / Digne

Kenny / Baines / Holgate ( injured ) / Cuco (exiled ) as back ups.....

That is it ....with 46 hrs to go...
Love the rumours / etc ....but Brands needs to have CBs sorted quickly . If we enter the season with only those options....we are struggling at best .
