Sonny Barger, original founder of the Hells Angels, has passed on.
A fascinating man who walked on the wild side and was regarded as one of America's most dangerous men in the 1970s. If you wanted to put a major concert on the West Coast of the US in the late 60s/early 70s, you didn't speak to the authorities- you spoke to Sonny and his boys. They were the law.

One of my mates is a Hells Angel, well he is in his 70s now, but some of his tales from the 1970s when the UK had several patched up gangs are totally crazy, but fascinating at the same time.
You ever seen the documentary Gimme Shelter about the Stones gig at Altomont?
Does the UK have much of the bikie gangs? There's a lot here in Aus and NZ and obviously America but never given a thought to how much is over there.

Not so much now I dont think, it seems an underground culture these days so maybe we wouldn't know until you make an enemy of the wrong person. The Outlaws are the biggest I think, there off the beaten track club house in Birkenhead is massive, interesting the Hells Angels place in Liverpool is only a few 100 yards from Bramley Moore

Oh yeah loads of times. Sonny and his crew went wild that day/night. Absolutley terrored the hippy crowd. There's a scene in the aftermath of the tragic concert when Charlie Watts is listening to a phone-in on radio and Sonny (who is clearly flying on cocaine) calls in and is absolutely raging that the Angels got the blame for all the violence and chaos. He's like: "I didn't go there to POLICE NUTHIN' Man, I just went to listen to music and have a good time.... if somebody kicks your motorcycle and thinks he can get away with it 'cos he's in a crowd of 300,000 people, then lemme tell ya somethin' man, he GOT GOT!"
