Sad news, the Monkees are sadly underrated by music snobs. My favourite :


Nesmith was the real musical deal. Sad to hear of his passing.

But the solo in that one was by Louie Shelton.
As a session musician, he also did the main guitar part in 'Last train to Clarksville'.


Nesmith sang some great numbers.

He also worked with the likes of Ian Matthews in the 1970s, and a host of other big names.
 

Very true and there's a good video on youtube somewhere i think about the wrecking crew and what they actually recorded .. wow!
It's fascinating. Only now are the session musicians getting full recognition. Also, check out this lady http://www.carolkaye.com/index.htm.

She played bass on all the big hits. She was, and still is I gather, a working musician in the true sense of the word.
